Track day tyres help.

Post by dino355 » Mon Mar 20, 2017 3:44 pm

Wondering if anyone has used Nankang NS2Rs on a 1 series?

My preferred tyre sizes are 225 40 18 & 255 35 18 however I can't seem to find a matching set in the same compound (80 super soft, 100 soft, 120 medium and 180 hard)

Would love a set of Yokohama AD08R but they only come in a 88W sidewall which isn't suitable for the 1 series.

Lastly Michelin Cup2 were my preferred choice but don't come on the above sizes.

Seriously tyres and wheels on these cars are a bloody nightmare

Alright Dino

Have you seen these http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorspor ... -a052-tyre

They are available in the size's you want i was quoted £900 for a set of 4 fitted by elite in rainham in 225/40 and 255/35 but i decided to drop the rear width and go for cup 2's which i think are amazing !

I was going to order a set of AD08R's for the 135i, where have you seen that 88W is not ok?

I also looking at the ns2r's and while they seem good value the road noise and the fact everyone prefers the AD08's has swayed my decision

Yeah I noticed 88W so was a no go for me.

I've ordered a set of Nankang NS2Rs from tyreleader.co.uk

225/40/18 92Y (100 compound Medium Soft)
255/35/18 94Y (80 compound Soft)

Hopefully they will be ok, a little apprehensive of the softer compound but as they are so cheap it's not too bad!

Will report back once I've had a chance to use them on track. Thinking of going to Bedford next month.

Yeah I also second the federals shout, obviously not up to the standards of the expensive treaded slicks but you could buy two sets of 4 for the price you would pay for one set of 888's etc. I've just bought another set for my e82 as I liked them so much on my e36

They should be decent on track mate , I'm going to get another set of wheels and get some Dunlop dirizzes just for track work and save the cup2's for the rd and ring dutys , I still highly rate the cup2's they make a mpss feel like a linglong  they are just an amazing all round tyre one of the best things I've ever done to the car.
