Which dunlop tyres to get?

Post by Johnny Mac » Wed Jun 14, 2017 12:11 pm

I've read many many posts on here and elsewhere saying to ditch the runflat tyres for improved ride quality, but now it's time to do it I recently read quite a few reviews about Dunlop Sport RFTs being comparable to "normal" tyres, and it's thrown a sizeable spanner in the works, because I often drive from Glasgow to Aberdeen and a puncture would seriously f*ck my sh*t up.

So, since I know nothing about cars I'm doing what I always do, and seeking babybmw.net's wisdom to the quandary!

The 1st option isn't even worth me reading past seeing 215. 225 up front or wider, never thinner.

If it's specifically Dunlop your interested in, I would suggest Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 and one of these:

Dunlop tyres are very very nosy.

Thanks for replies folks.

I was wanting to have the same tyres on both axels, and only chose the sport maxx because they had decent reviews on black circles. Back to the drawing board I suppose.

Since my last post I looked in to other brands including the Goodyears mentioned here, and opted for them instead. I have a can of tyre weld, and will update in due course. Goodbye runflats

Had tyres fitted on Saturday, went to garage on Sunday to check pressures and one was at 22 PSI.

Assumed the future had put wrong pressure in it so topped it up to 34PSI, drove to Aberdeen this morning and it's flat on arrival! Car started shaking about 1/4 mile from my destination so I've been lucky, but did the tyre arrive with a slow puncture perhaps?

Maybe worth checking the fitter screwed the valve in tight.

One valve leaking, one tyre not sealed right, and one punctured with a big screw.
