Mak Luft-FF

Post by kent dan » Fri Aug 18, 2017 3:59 pm

https://www.performancealloys.com/wheel ... load=False

What do you guys think of these?
18X8 ET43 for the front
18X9 ET44 for the back.
Fitment seems perfect for an F20 with LCA's.
These are flow formed so should be lightish and quite strong. I have never heard of them, has anyone ever had a set of MAK wheels?

Looks good Glen, are they the flow-formed versions or the standard Luft?

8" et34mm work fine with M4 LCAs if running 225/40/18 MPSS
8" et43mm will also work fine with the above and should give you the option of running 245/35/18 upfront

9" et44mm is better with MPSS 255/35/18 IMHO than 245/35/18 as 9" gives too much stretch, effecting sidewall stability if you planning on driving the car as intended....

A member on here has these MAK Luft wheels in OEM width/offsets (7.5" ET45 & 8" ET52)

You can find the black ones here but you can also get silver ones

I wanted to run 245/255 F/R but the wheels are not available at the moment, and can not say when they will be.

I think I will go your route and get some F30 alloys. 8Jx18 ET34 Fronts and 8.5Jx18 ET47 rears.
Much cheaper option to, as I can see quite a few sets on ebay for £4-500.

Do you think I could get 245's on the fronts, if I remove the lca's and get some camber plates instead.

Dan,

The F30 style FG 397's 18" 8"/8.5" off my car maybe surplus to my requirements - PM me if you are interested.

The issue with camber plates is NVH will increase although Vorslag [USA] and Millway [Sweden] do adjustable top mounts that are better than most.
If I'd kept my car, fitted with both F8x LCAs and matching tension struts, I think I would of given 245 MPSS a go on the front, as F8x TS centralise the wheel much more into the wheel so reducing risk of rubbing.

BP,

Thanks for the offer, but I really fancy the 400m style wheel, I just think it would look really good on a 1'er.

I'll get a set and trial fit the 245's on the front and report my findings. Will probably have to get the F8x TS or roll the arches if they don't clear.

Thanks for all your advice.
