Winter tyre options

Post by ash8433 » Sat Sep 16, 2017 12:46 pm

Over the last two winters I have run Nokian wrd4 225/40 18s on the standard 436m alloys , and have been generally happy in winter conditions , but in anything other than snow/sleet I do feel that the rear grip is poor
So I am considering going up to 235/40 on the rear as many of you recommend
The question is do I stick with Nokian but change to wr a4 as I can't find any wrd4 in 235/40 size or change to either continental ts850 or michelin pilot alpine 4

A4's are for Sports cars. D4 are the low performance Granny option, why did you opt for those?

Good question Marco 🙂, I basically looked up Nokian winters and ordered those without checking, to be fair they worked well in the snow but pretty compromised in the dry .
What do you recommend , I know you run Nokians

Thanks for that Marco , your braver than me though mine go on November and don't come off until April depending on forecasts , it's a bit grim up north
I'll stick with Nokians then , but go for 235/40 on the rear and of course the performance option 🤙
