118d SE 17" Alloy 205 to 225?

Post by bub » Wed Nov 01, 2017 10:13 pm

Good day all,

Quick question please.

I have a 118d with standard BMW 5 spoke alloys fitted with Bridgestone RFT 205 x 50 R17 tyres all round.

I want to ditch the runflats and looking at Goodyear Eagle F1 ASYM3 XL's.

Could I safely fit 225 x 45 on these rims without any issues?

I'm hoping for better handling. Also, the 50 profile tyres are about £22 more expensive each.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you.

My car came with the 205/50R17 runflats on 17"x7J rims but I switched to normal 225/45R17 tyres without problem.
They are an acceptable size per officail tyre guidelines - see table in this thread http://www.babybmw.net/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=100486

And yes they are definitely a cheaper size and far more choice too.
