Alloys for M140i

Post by kent dan » Wed Oct 19, 2016 12:58 pm

I have been looking at some lightweight alloys for the new car and keeping the 436's for winter duty.

Has any anyone got any experience of 2forged. What do you think?

Am thinking of the ZF01, 8X18 et40 all round.

Dan,

+2 on MP's comment although I'd want to know from rimstyle what the offsets are before I parted with any cash....

The wheels are made to order, and come. In ofsets et15 to et42. Obviously et40 8j all round after my research on this forum
At 8.7kg a wheel, quite light too, just hope that they are of good quality /strength.
What do you think about the looks of them? I have no imagination, but think that they would good on a MG M140i, especially in silver.

I am now ready to purchase these wheels, but have a couple more Q's, just want to get it exactly right.

Bear in mind I have the M3/4 LCA's on order, and will be getting the Birds/other road friendly setup, in the near future.

1) I would like to get the 9" rears, to give the option to run wider tyres and for the look :D .
If I want to use 255/35 tyres, what would be the best offset? They do any offset from ET0 - ET42.

2) To use 245/35's on the front , should I just stick with ET40, again they do any offset from ET15 - ET42.

I know there are lots of posts regarding wheel fitment, but as these are made to order,
it would be nice to get the exact offset I need.

has this been lowered? if so on which springs?
Nope, just on standard suspension at the moment. Can't see there being any problems with say a 25mm drop though.

I'd be going the full ET42 all round.

I can highly recommend the 2Forge wheels. They are ultra light in comparison to the factory M135i wheels. It's a very noticeable difference, not just with acceleration, but with the steering too. I don't know the exact weight saving, but when you account for all 4 corners, it must add up.

If you email Rimstyle, you can specify what offset you want with your order.

Gents, thanks again for all your help, much appreciated. Will probably go with et42 all round.

Cwality, out of interest, what size tyres do you have, front and rear?

Hi Kent, have you managed to get these zf1 one your 140? I plan to do the same set up (18*8 front and 18*9 rear).
What tyre size did you use?
Thanks

Hi Free,
I didn't get these in the end, I wanted to go up to 245 front and 255 rear and the rears only go to et38, which would not work.
So am currently running some f30 alloys, as they are very cheap on Ebay.
Whatever wheels you find. These are the sizes I would run.
For 8" 245/35
For 9" 255/35
Hope this helps buddy.
