9.5" ET45 are going to poke right out the sides of the arches. Mine are 8" ET40 and are basically flush.

Could you run four 8.5" fronts instead?

N.B. Make sure they're really good quality forged (not cast) wheels if you're going to 19's, or they'll be ruined after a few pot holes.
I've just emailed asking about the widths of an alloy I like (Bola ZFR 19") as they're not stated, however they will be machined to whatever offset I need, so hopefully they will be able to provide me with a staggered set up as near to standard offsets as possible. Ideally wanting to keep the staggered approach if I can.

Okay so 8.5/9.5 are all they can do for a staggered setup on those too ! Would 9.5's on a slight negative camber (nothing too harsh) be better under the arch, would it cause any rubbing if the car was fully loaded ?

You could stretch a 255/30 on and it shouldn't rub, but the alloys wouldn't be under the arches.

If I was to get 265's to avoid stretching, would this stop me from being able to lower it as I was looking to get some H&R 15mm springs. With the bigger alloys as the rear would a raked look with Eibachs fit better ? Apologies for all the questions but thanks for being so helpful !

265mm at ET45 will definitely rub, forget those.

Damn why is this so difficult haha, maybe I will have to look at a square setup..

A Finnish member, I think, has 9,5 x 19 ET52 rear rims with 255 tyres. It could be the only good offset to match with 265 tyres. (?)
Personaly, I don't like 19" wheels because they make the car looks higher and less comfortable with more weight and thiner tyres. Definitely not a good idea imho.

I am looking at a square set of alloys at 18 8 et35. For my 140i. I saw above Marco Polo saying this was not "the nicest" setup Why? Stick out too much? Only reason I am considering these is that they look nice, are really light, and are a bit of a bargain (if they fit!).

With too small an ET, I appreciate the radius each of corner will be changed relative to the other front, does this affect handling, even at the difference of 10mm per side? Or indeed legality if the wheels protrude? I presume too big an ET can be addressed with spacers, but too small an ET would mean machining, with associated cost, risk, and possibility of weakening a manufactures design.

Is there a simple table (like the tyre width vs rim width one) that show's columns based on:
Car, Front or rear, wheel diameter, wheel width, suitable ET range.

No, there's not a table, I might try to concoct something at some point.

Stock rears are ET52. ET35 is getting a little 'Stanced' / pokey, but shouldn't rub in theory. (Not all tyres are exactly the same, some 245's are actually wider than others, and/or have squarer shoulders).

Around ET40-ET42 give a more OEM look.

I think Blind Pugh ran 18x8 ET34 on his previous M135 so you could try and do a search for images of his car to see how stanced it will look...

However, BP's car was lowered so the stanced look whilst the car is perched on OEM springs will look a little different...

As marco mentioned if on OEM ride height a less aggressive (higher) offset would more ideal

Here you go.. 18x8 ET35 on a M135 which will give you an idea of how it will look on std. ride height

Mine on its LRN Cyclones. They are 8" ET35 front and rear. Good value at £499 for the set.
