New E82/E88 Blacklines

Post by ND40oz » Mon Apr 02, 2012 2:44 pm

Looks like they were introduced at the beginning of the year, anyone got them yet?

Wondering what the price is on these from a dealer, right around 200?

Ok so worked out one set is for cars with xenon and one without ( should have guessed really) although not entirely sure what difference xenons have on rear lights? anyone care to enlighten me?

Works out to about £190 for a set, may take a trip to bmw tomorow...

The xenon tail lights have the strips lit by LEDs, the halogen ones do not. All the pics I've seen of the blacklines have been xenons thus far, not sure how they'll look without the led lighting.

I'm sold! :D Do they have LEDs in the dark ones so you can see the light better? Normal LCI brake lights have LEDs but only shining down the optics, right?

I'm retrofitting OEM xenons shortly.....which brake lights should I be ordering?!! I currently have halogens in lol is it something to do with the FRM?

Yeah, the version you can use depends on FRM, so if you're getting the new FRM, then you should probably go with the xenons. Not sure what else is involved with the retrofit though if you're changing from non-xenons to xenons, you may need one of the wire harnesses as well. It should be the same as if your were retrofitting the non-LCI xenon tail lights though, if there's a guide somewhere.

Here's more pics where they show them lit up: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=668464" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It'll be right...will just ask mechanic he's an electrics genius. They do look very nice indeed these lights, better than using dark film etc.

Check this comparison photo, they look 100 times better than original lights. Look amazing on a black car too!!

Can we order these from a UK BMW dealer? What is the cost for the pair?

So just to clarify can the with xenon set be fitted to a car without xenon headlights? I.E do the lights fit any car irrespective of what headlights?

Sorry to be a pain only I don't have xenon headlights but like the sound of the xenon rear lights with the LED's... hope that makes sense :\

They'll fit, but you'll have to find a way to power the LEDs and re-code the normal rear lights to avoid the Christmas tree effect.

Ok so bmw uk say £220.84 for the set of lights, no wiring harness etc required. Estimated 1/2 hour fitting time no coding. There aren't any units in the uk at the moment but they are looking to have some in the next 3 weeks.

I'm confused now - I *think* I have those and now therefore, I think I have an LCI but not sure.

Is there an easy way to know?

I have the white plastic eyebrow but no angel eyes on the head lights.
I have the two white plastic bars on the rears like in the blackline pics but I then lenses don't apear to be 'black' at all.

I'll take some pics in a bit and stick them up.

Here you go - I'll take one in a bit with the lights on but here are two from an earlier post:

The front eyebrows do nothing. Nor do I have Angel Eyes.
The rears do look the same (apart from the sun glare through)

I guess I'm in some weird production cross over phase?

Original "angel eyes" only come with the xenon option. Not to be confused with those fitted with aftermarket DEPOs.

I think there's only 2 versions of the E82/E88 tailights, xenon or non-xenon. So I would expect the same 2 versions in darkline.
