Hi guys,

Just paid a visit to my local dealer to request a quote for the blackline retrofit (xenon). The guy came up with the following list (translated from Dutch):
63212225282 Set Black Line rears
61359263804 Foot Room Module 3
61122219698 Cable tree Facelift-lighting
Take off existing rear lights and install new rear lights
Program / code / flash

Total costs (incl. VAT): €835

My ride is a E88 from February 2009, xenon fronts and striped rears.

Now going through this thread, trying to understand everything, it still isn't clear to me what it is I need. However I am getting the feeling it is not what my dealer is offering me... I guess the question is: does my 2009-02 E88, originally fitted with xenon fronts, need the FRM3 and is any programming / coding / flashing required? And is the retrofit something you can do yourself?

Surely my dealer isn't trying to rip me of, now is he? Or am I being naïef here?

Any help on this is very much appreciated (as it may make the difference between a yes and a no to this retrofit).

As above.

Since you already have an FRM2 coded for xenons you shouldn't need to change it - can't say about any coding changes.

If you check the main connector to the rear lights and it has a full set of pins then then wiring is already in place - otherwise you will need to wire the LEDs to the FRM.

Just get the rear lights - a straight swap.
If they all work OK (including the LEDs as running lights) - great, if not, then check/add wiring for the LEDs and sort out any coding.

E82/E88 should have the wiring and the rest in place for 'hi' version lights - adding these to E81/87 will require the extra wires and probable FRM upgrade and coding.

Hi all, this week I added facelift "HI' CELIS lights to my 2006 e87 and just required coding of the frm and to add power to the led bars, and im guessing i only have frm1 as my car is a 2006, i know my car isnt an e82/88 but thought id share. If i didnt need a new frm then hopefully the new e82/88 wont.

Really impressed with the look of mine as I Had pre facelift lights before it has really freshened the car up. can get some pics up once clean if people are interested.

the E82/E88 already has LEDs in the stock lights....the darklines just have LEDs in a different places that's all, thats why you don't need to code these lights. All early coupe/cabrio have LEDs to begin with just not good looking ones!

The darklines/LCI brake lights without LED look horrible. Big blotchy red lights, they look really cheap.

I wonder if we can get a group buy going for these from somebody like Cotswolds, to bring the price down a little more?

I like the darklines, but they're not at the top of my mod list, as I also quite like the standard three-stripe lights. If they were a little cheaper then I could probably be encouraged to go for it. 8)

Also, does anybody else have pics of them on a white coupe? (Not 1M, preferably.)

Thanks!

Good man! I'll have a word with Kev at Cotswolds and see if this is something he'd be interested in helping with.

Check the other darklines post here:

Hopefully, we should be able to organise this for £190.00 as a group buy - watch this space.

I'm in for a set if there's a group buy.

I've got a 2008 135i with Xenon headlights (if that makes any difference).
