When you say "0.75mm2 wire" do you mean 2-core wire ??
No, single core, at least 0.75 thick.
ok, So this is what I got which I pray is suitable?

When it comes to connecting the wire to the license plate light is soldering compulsory? or can I use the "I dont have a soldering machine" method. i.e:
- Use my wire stripper to expose the license plate wire from its shielding
- Connect the new wires and wrap it around the license plate wire securely similar to this...
Image
- Use insulation tape to cover and secure new connections?

Sorry for being annoying - I promise I have no more questions after  I just don't want to cause electrical problems and have a renault clio looking rear where the indicators come on as I brake  .

Followed the instructions to a T and the bars didn't light up so I thought the light was faulty :jawdrop:

Did Andre2004's method and they lit up so I'm confident the bars work

PHEW!!

What other wires can I tap into???

I wouldn't use that method... You can buy a soldering machine, they're not expensive, and you have videos online on how to solder, it's easy, trust me.

Or instead, I would buy some "cable lock crimp" like this example or this one.

I'm sorry I can't help you about the license plate light, it's weird...
