2016 M135i JB4 Install

Post by uncleiven135i » Thu Apr 06, 2017 9:34 pm

Would someone kindly confirm I have located the correct sensors in advance of installing my JB4 once it arrives.

Is it also recommended to connect the Flex fuel connector or can it be left if I don't plan to do any further mods, car will be standard apart from the JB4

Thank you
Adam

Finally got my hands on the JB4 which I ordered a few weeks back, luckily this gave me a lot of time to throughly check the installation process, using the iPhone app, FW updates etc etc.

Managed to get it all fitted in around 30 mins and it was very straight forward, few pics below... sorry for the blurry one where the JB4 unit is on the p/s of the engine bay

If not installing additional EWG harness then you can leave off flex fuel connection and stay using maps 1 and 2.

It was recommended that I still connect the fuel flex which I've done.

Can I use map 2 on a standard downpipe?

Notionally yes.

I'd suggest you try map 1 and log some data via JB4 app.

Then switch to map 2 and drive the car for while to allow DME to "learn" map 2 then log some more data.

Compare map 1 v map 2 logs.

If boost consistently matches target on map 2 data then you are good shape. if under target, indicates you are better off in map 1.

Thanks mate.
I've just switched to map 5 should I stay on that and get some initial logs?

Just to hijack this...a kind fellow on the Facebook group is helping me fit jb4 tonight. I'm planning on just running map1 for now, but until I have the JB4 app how can I log a run? What software do I need?

I'm certainly no expert but I don't think you can unless you connect to a laptop maybe.

Do you have the Bluetooth module with your JB4?

Birdseye

JB4 datalogging - 3 options

1. Hardwired - hook up a PC to JB4 via JB4 USB cable and use JB4 interface SW on PC;
2. Hardwired - hook up an android phone with JB4 connect app via same USB cable above with OTG cable to phone
3. Wireless using JB4 Connect Rev 3 mated to JB4 and android or IoS with Jb4 connect app

JB4 INTERFACE for PC - download from here

You most certainly can! Thanks so much for your help. I'm in love with the car and that's just on map1! Need to do some logging now.
