What you have to appreciate is he R&D, time and testing that goes into that software before it is ready to be put on to the customer's car. That is what you are paying for..
Also, name me another mod which adds as much power/£ than a re-map? A decent exhaust is x2 as much and gives minimal gains in comparison (you do get the acoustic benefit with it though  ).
yep, valid point. Shame you cant revo a BMW like that, seems a very popular mod for VW/Audi users, as popular as Evolve for BMW i guess.... :)
Loading generic maps on to cars is the same for most marques. It's the fine tuning after that can take some time.
My last car was an Golf GTI Edition 30 (same engine as your mates Scirocco R) and that had Revo software. Although the software upload is the same, you can then tailor the map to suit you and your car (adjust fuelling, boost and timing) all through a switch. Cracking bit if kit to be fair.

This is remap on a 135i we made the tuned file no mods standard car
Customer wanted as much as poss safely Image

And here is a tuned file we made for PDtuning's own 135i they tested on a dyno dynamics rolling road

Image
Is that a N54 or N55 135i.....??
these are on a n54 with twin turbos

the n55 has a single turbo and can still get the same amounts but takes longer as the ecu is under the manifold which is no problems for us

Even Revo can't do all VAG's via OBD, there are some tricore one's that have to be pulled, it's the same with BMW's which as everyone else we have to pull.

Take it to tuner who can set it up on the dyno and check the DPF.

Avoid mobile tuners whoever you choose!

There is one tuner in the UK who does a lot of mobile tuning on BMW's who adamantly claims he does the tuning himself on several forums yet his cars have tags in from techtec in Germany, that's the funniest thing I find! I'd make sure the company you use has a valid WinOLS license also.

Thanks, i've got a quote from both of those companies. Hyper Chips have quoted £280.00 and more BHP have quoted £360.00

Can anybody recommend which one i should think about going for? Hyper Chips is mobile, can someone explain to me what's the downside to getting a mobile remap?

As long as the company checks the car over properly and you know your car is healthy there are no real downsides, both will give you a good tune...
