Tunit V-CR and 116d

Post by tobster » Wed Mar 15, 2017 1:10 pm

Hi, I have recently bought a 40,000 mile 2013 116d efficientdynamics and am thinking about installing a tunit V-CR module (NTUN087). I have had a tunit unit on our other family car (Ford Cmax 2L diesel) for about 5 years without any negative aspects. Any input/experience etc would be greatly appreciated about fitting the tunit unit to a BMW. Thanks

Tunit V-CR and 116d

Probably because bud you haven't even introduced yourself and just jumped in with a question.......

So I'm going to hazard a guess and say that nobody has heard of this tunit box hence why nobody has replied. I've been on this forum 4 years and I've never heard or seen any post/thread regarding this off the shelf tuning box.

*edit - just had a google and for that sort of money (£200) you could add a little more and get a custom tune with BW Chiptune with very good guaranteed proven dynoed results.

Good luck though.

thanks for the input. It certainly seems that no one used/used Tunit modules on this forum or you're a shy bunch

Well I installed the tunit and went for a drive to see how it felt. I had set the tunit to the middle setting (5). Anyway it all seemed to be fine until i accelerated hard in first gear from a junction. It immediately flashed up an error code, something like "drivechain malfunction, maximum power not available". I drove home, it did not feel like it was in limp home mode. I uninstalled the tunit and went for a drive. The error message had gone and it has driven fine since. Any idea what happened and whether i should be concerned??

Hi,

I'd do a little more research on that particular tuning box. Iv not heard of them before, your error code doesn't sound ideal tbh.

Best to go with a custom map or a better know tuning box that people have used and reviewed on BMW platforms.

If you are in the south east then as mentioned Jason at BW Chiptune is worth a shout.

Cheers
