Brake pads and disc 1 series

Post by CPA » Tue Jan 27, 2015 9:35 am

I have been told brake pads are low and the disc is slightly lipped. Although the warning lights are not coming on as yet I can hear a bit of squealing when the brake is aplied whilst driving.

What brand would you guys recommend as the best replacement? Has anyone ever heard of Mintex?

Your advice would be highly appreciated.

Read about the mintex ones making a constant tick tick sound on here.. The grooves and holes in the disks act as cheese graters on the pads. :? :?

You would be better off spending your pennies on textar or pagid brand from car parts for less.

big vote for Pagid from carparts4less.

Just changed my front discs/pads for these and so far (500 miles) they've been great. The discs are coated and don't need to be cleaned prior to being fitted, the hubs are also coated and mine are still clean and silver. Used plenty of copper slip and absolutely no squealing. Also worth getting the pagid sensor, £8 or so and plug and play. The old one on mine was shot

No sounds like that on my previous cars.

Currently awaiting these to come on.
