I've got everything coming, hopefully with me by the weekend.

I've seen a couple of threads discussing EXBT - did you code this in while you swapped the head unit? Is it possible?
Would be good to get the Spotify integration if possible (the HU I ordered looks like Spotify is standard), though this seems to connect through lightning cable and not BT anyway.

Think it will be doable? Nav + Spotify would be a perfect outcome from what I thought was going to be a pretty chunky outlay!

So I fitted everything this morning and did the coding and I'm delighted to confirm I now have navigation and EBT. The only issue I have at the minute is that the GPS isn't working. The only space to put it was underneath the HU, I couldn't see any space on the side of the HU. Can anyone recommend a better place to locate the sensor?

I'm currently waiting at my local independent specialist whilst my car is getting serviced, fingers crossed that my original service history comes back!

You should have a metal bar left of the vent as you are looking at as per the pictures in my post.
So I had another go and moved the gps antenna up near the vents and stuck it to the metal bar. The only difference was that mine was on the right of the vents. Unfortunately it's not made a difference and my location is not being picked up (it thinks I'm in Coventry which I'm guessing is where the donor car was last!) I even tried waving the antenna around but it made no difference.

I did have an issue with the antenna though as I bought the wrong connector. It was square instead of round so I basically used some pliers on it to snap the blue connector off so the wire would fit into the socket on the HU. I didn't think this would cause a problem but it's the only issue I can think of so I'm thinking of buying the correct antenna and trying again unless anyone has any other suggestions?

My headunit came without the plastic connectors blue and black I believe so I mixed the fm and gps antenna up by mistake maybe you have done the same?i also had to drive a mile or 2 for it to pick up my location.

I've tried driving around and it's not made a difference. I put the gps antenna into the matching blue socket. I'm not sure whether FM was working actually as I use DAB. Also on the new HU I don't have a socket for the beige connector even though I did on my old HU so I've just left it unplugged. Not sure what this is for - possibly glovebox USB although I'm sure I don't have one in there!

Old unit left to right:fm antenna black,am antenna white, bluetooth connector beige, lcd display purple, armrest usb white

New unit left to right:gps connector blue,Bluetooth connector beige, lcd display purple, armrest usb white, glovebox usb green, usb baseplate blue,am antenna white,fm antenna black

On mine the blue, beige and black covers were missing hence why I mixed them up

Cheers mate. Looks like I may well have mixed them up as I connected the gps antenna into the blue socket in the middle, not the first one on the left. Mine also came without the covers on the left so I just plugged the wires in the same way as they were on the old HU.

I'll give this another go tomorrow then. Here is the link to my new HU.

The furthest on the left without the cover is your gps connector mine came the same I just tightened the antenna connector slightly and gently so it's a snug fit the green is indeed the dab as is the yellow called dual dab according to the manual.

Nice one! I never even thought to check the manual. Hopefully all goes well tomorrow.

Just one more thing, I've fitted the dash back together however the climate control section isn't snug. In fact there's a gap when I run my hand across the bottom between the panel and the dash if that makes sense, although you can't see it as it's underneath. Did you have to force it back in to make it fit flush?

Yes it's push fit and quite tight just make sure it's lined up and nothings in the way.

I've just had another go at this. The wires were indeed the wrong way round and now GPS is working perfectly and I also got the dash to fit back in properly. The coding was easy once I installed eSys correctly. EBT is great, sport display is brilliant.

I can't thank you enough for your help Ogb666, you've really gone out your way and it's very much appreciated. Thanks again!!

Tbh some of the wires were difficult to pull out of the old HU and all of the connectors on the new one are still working so it doesn't really bother me. Now the HU and dash is back in place and I have the correct service history showing and the GPS is working I don't plan to take it out again!

Out of sight, out of mind :cool2:

Exactly mate, £100 was a steal. Love the sport display and I've also coded digital speedo and the acoustical lock. Couldn't get TPMS or cornering lights to work but not too fussed and I can't think of anything else I need coding apart from cruise control but I'm happy to remain patient to find the steering wheel controls at the right price!

Also, it's not important as my HU is from a 2015 model but I'm gonna do my research into updating to the latest set of maps if possible as long as it's pretty cheap.

Hello mate really good post I just have a couple of questions as I really want this done to mine,

I have a bmw 2013 F21 (no combox and standard Bluetooth, has dab, Harmon kardon )

I would really like satnav and extended Bluetooth on mine so would the part number you bought (9365843) huentrynav work without a combox ? As I thought that was for nbt only... I saw your one on eBay and it's coming up to like £650+ just for the unit 9365843

But saw unit part no:6822591 for £130?

As my speakers are Harmon kardon would that mean I should look for the units with the HK logo on the sticker on them ?

Please help me , I was looking at retrofitting a nbt but your method looks so much cheaper and easier as all I really want is extended Bluetooth and satnav , if you can please could you also link me to a cheap unit on eBay which would do the same thing as yours for my car ? Thanks in advance !

THank you so much mate , so all I need Now is a nav emulator from ali express and then coding done to get the enhanced Bluetooth and navigation etc all working (and not having a combox is fine right)

Also if the seller doesn't have the vin from the donor vehicle can the maps still be updated

#51 ·
Yes Bluetooth streaming etc will work on this unit without the combox.it will work without coding but some features will be missing like tyre pressure etc in my case donor car was a 3 series so pdc display was of a 3 series.don't forget a gps antenna When coding I took a screenshot of the original donor vin just in case.its stored in the unit so doesn't matter if the seller has it or not.
