Renting an M135/40??

Post by moono16v » Thu Jan 11, 2018 9:47 pm

Don’t suppose anyone knows of any companies who rent m135/40’s?

As some will know I want to change my Megane 250 for one but having never owned an auto or RWD I don’t wana go out and spend £20k on used one and then regret / not enjoy the car.

So I would like to rent one for a week or so just to see if I like it / could live with it. Yes I know I can sell it if I didn’t like it but be easier to rent one to see if it does all my needs.....luggage / babies / B road blast / comfy / drive it in rain etc etc.....

Looked online at a few rentals but can’t find anything???

Won't a dealer offer you an extended test drive? It won't be for a week, but I'm sure a day/weekend could be arranged if you're a genuine buyer.

Never thought to ask a dealer as I imagine they would literally just say no. I’m not young lad (29 now!!!) but I still imagine they wouldn’t give me one unless I was 40+?

Suppose it’s worth an ask.

Megane 250 to an m140.

Sure they would take you serious enough and if they wanted the sale they would

I just turned 30 and my local dealer was going to let me have their 140i test car for an afternoon. In the end i bought a 135i LCI before that date came around.

I am pretty confident you will love the car, its deffo worth asking your local dealer, i was just honest with mine and said i need to check i can get it on my drive / work carpark etc

My dealer couldn't find one quickly to let me have an extended test drive (they didn't let their normal one out on extended test drives, I guess so they could do walk in test drives). But I went on a very long test drive (~2 hours) with the sales person (very nice person) around country roads being enthusiastic, on motorways and even took it home to see if car seat, pram etc would fit and to let my wife have a look around it. It was really handy as I could see how it handled compared to my current car and the golf r test drive on the same roads.
Got back from the test drive and the sales person said "so how do you like the car" to which I responded "shall we go talk money".

I saw a Thrifty M135i 18 months or so ago, might be worth a call....
