Screen wash. I know....

Post by stefanmay3 » Sat Jan 27, 2018 3:54 pm

Hi,

Sorry to bring this subject up again.

I have looked around on here regarding screen wash and it seems that bmw' s is the best to get. (Unless anyone knows others)

So my question is does anyone have links to buy it or part numbers.

Thanks

The last lot I bought I found cheapest on eBay.

The forum sponsor Cotswold BMW could provide you with a price also.

I've always just used water with a drop of washing up liquid.

I use Sainsbury’s premium screenwash (the pink one). Works fine for me. Don’t use the cheap blue stuff though, seems to block up the water bottle within a few squirts.

Or if it's not that cold, you can use the (much cheaper) summer concentrate - https://www.amazon.co.uk/BMW-Genuine-Wi ... B00A4CASCY

I bought a bottle of the stuff with antifreeze the other year, but haven't yet needed to use it; this stuff seems fine in the winter. Then again, my car is garaged overnight, so it doesn't really get a chance to freeze.

Bad idea. You'll get algae growing in the tank, which will eventually clog your washer nozzles and filters. It also means that when this happens, BMW won't fix it under warranty for you, which they will do if you use the official BMW stuff. At less than three quid for the concentrate (which does one full 5l tank - I've used three bottles in the 2.5 years I've owned the car), it's a false economy not to use it.

14k in my 140 and around 5k in the mrs’s car we’ve not yet used 2x 5litre bottles. Still got about 7litres of it premixed ready to use. It’s good stuff too.

Tbh I've done this with all my cars and never had any problems.

It's a good way to strip your LSP though, especially if you have headlight washers...

Seems really strange, especially when proper bmw screenwash is so cheap.
