Just dropped car in for some warranty work. Sticky door lock and window noise.

Had a call to say its failed the brake reservoir campaign tests and needs a new DSC unit?
Part on back order and will be a while at least a week......

Yeh, had to wait a week for mine. Have they let you have the car back? My dealer wouldn't!

Nope, car still in, they've put a new gearbox in whilst it's been there too!

Just had the same happen to mine. Took it in for a break fluid service plus these "quality enhancements" and hour later was told the car failed the tests and they're keeping it in whilst they order the new Hydro unit. Got a hire car coming but it's ruined my week as I'm supposed to be away from home and not knowing when it will be fixed is a PITA.

Took mine in for brake fluid change and mot today, got tood they needed to get me a car as mine was unsafe (strange how it hasnt been unsafe until now and no one advised me) things were very tight lipped and little was said. Next an anonmous call with some muppet talking terms and conditions and excess's and wanted my card details £50 deposit and £250 excessNot being orepared or advised of this said no and demanded the car back after being sent a higher person who again said very little signed waiver and got car back. Arranged with local dealers when parts in will drop it down not sure im so keen on driving it now tho maybe this should be a proper recall?

Exactly my thoughts, particularly as I asked them to look at the brakes about a year ago as I'd been having issues braking in the wet.

I'm surprised they never mentioned that they were arranging a courtesy car via Enterprise.

BTW, is there a need to call someone just doing their job and trying to help you a "muppet"?

Hmm, I had better call BMW about my 62 120d...

Do I just ask about any recall work (I'm not interested if it's going to cost me)??

Just ask them whether your car is covered by the "brake reservoir quality enhancement".

My car is booked in for a brake fluid change next Saturday, it's a 63 plate 120D.

Will BMW check for any recalls whilst it's there? The warranty runs out in about a month so ideally i would like anything done whilst under warranty!

Just had mine done at Haliwell Jones North wales (Llandudno) they did it very well amd efficiently. Did it properly with a Cap change, filter/neck piece change and full brake fluid flush and change, took them just over an hour. Great service, car was taken in exactly on time at 1600 hrs and cane back cleaned and hoovered by 1715 with all the work done. Dec 2013, 63 plate, 116d m sport with 16k.

Mines just come back from a brake fluid change and they said they had to do some work for a quality enhancement.

On the invoice It shows, cap and strainer?

My 2013 M135i (manual 3 door) went in for it's first MOT to Peter Vardy, Edinburgh on 23rd Aug.

Was told when booking it in for the MOT (and oil service, I think) there was a "campaign" where they were checking for water ingress into brake fluid, and that a "tiny percentage" of cars needed a part.

I was put into a 118i for the day and then got a call to say I was one of that "tiny percentage", and that they had no idea how long it would take as the part (tank?) required was on back order.

Another local BMW dealer (Eastern) has a rental sideline, and Vardy arranged a 428i auto loan car.
Unfortunately that car had a fault, whereby the screen blower stayed on for >4 hours after the car was locked (!) so I returned it as I didn't want to be stranded with a flat battery.

Now in a replacement 420i cab while I await news. There was talk of a "BMW Experience longer term loan car" if they need to keep my can for longer than a couple of weeks - but no news yet. Apparently Vardy alone have "Several" cars in waiting for the same part.

(The 428i was quite nice, but the 420i cab is [a] slow (for me), and horrifically impractical; I have two boys with much sports kit. It has been a fun novelty on some of our recent sunny days - but I'm bored now.)
