Ecotune Group Buy - 20% + Discount for BabyBMW Members

Post by Vince1976 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 12:01 pm

Right girls, I have just spoken to Stan @ Ecotune UK as I am going to get a DPF Delete/iFlash Kit for my 123d.

Stan has kindly offered us a discount of 15% on either the DPFD/iFlash Kit or the iFlash remap alone.

Please visit Ecotune's website for more information on this @ http://www.ecotune-scotland.co.uk/product/iFlash_BMW For the iFlash

Or http://www.ecotune-scotland.co.uk/produ ... er_DPF_OFF for the DPFD/iFlash Kit.

The iFlash alone usually costs £449.00, but with discount will cost you £381.65 Inc VAT.

The DPFD/iFlash Kit usually costs £765, but with discount will cost you £650.25 Inc VAT.

A delivery charge of £4.99 for 2 day delivery (Subject to stock availability) will apply.

I am keen to get my package, so please sign up if you're interested.

As soon as you put your name down, please call Stan on 0845 409 4567 or email Stan direct at stan@ecotune-scotland.co.uk to pay a £50 deposit (to stop people messing about). Once we have 5 names Stan can ship our goods.

Please note that the iFlash will not work on any models with the later BMW encryption, which is cars from Mid 2009 onwards, if you are unsure of which ECU your car has, please call Stan to verify and he will assist you.

I've got a 2007 car, so happy days! Please do not ask me any questions or spam this thread, as all of the information that you need is either above or on the Ecotune website/with Stan, so if you're interested, please get your name down now.

*** please note, discount is increasing for each additional participant... Currently at 18%

Thank you.

A couple of questions.

I would need to change the DPF pipe myself, how hard is this? I've down quite a bit of work on cars in the past but I'd guess a modern diesels a bit different to my old Mg.

The Iflash box, is this a tuning box? (that you would leave in place) Or do you plug it in, and fully remap your ECU just as a tuning garage would?

Also, what hp is a power remap expected to provide?

Sorry for all the questions. Its just very odd that ever since buying my car I've been planning to remap+dpf delete in Febuary. I'd budgeted for exactly £650 :S

It's not difficult to take the dpf off (approx 1hr)there are 2 sensors to remove they have a kind of iso plug you just pull them apart and also a foil wrapped pipe(rubberish)to pull off,at the rear of the dpf there is a bracket i think it has 4 bolts/nuts that hold the dpf in place and a clamp on the end of the pipe joining it to the other part of the exhaust. On the front of the dpf it is a trumpet flange that has a unusual type of jubilee clip/bolt arrangement take the bolt all the way off and you will find that the clip will pivot in the centre , that is pretty much it you will need to drop the under tray off before starting this and when you have the dpf off you will need to transfer the 2 sensors to th removal pipe this is the hardest part as they will take some elbow grease(spanners will not shift them you will need mole grips or something)to move them then just put it all back together.

the iflash is used through the OBD port and remap yourself so to speak

Sounds great! A good friend of mine is a mechanic at BMW, I may have to ask for his help

I see from the website, the Maxitune Iflash quotes 275hp and £350.00. This would lead me to believe this is 275hp without the dpf delete pipe. What power output would be expected from the £650 package?

Stotty, the £350 price quoted on the website is for a re-map only. You'd have to go to Ecotune in Scotland to get that.

The £450 RRP option is for the iFlash. Read this http://www.ecotune-scotland.co.uk/product/iFlash_BMW

The iFlash is a handheld device that interfaces with your cars ECU via the OBD Port (On Board Diagnostics). It's not a piggy back tuning box. Please follow my inital links and read the website, i.e. scroll up.

Re the DPF delete... By removing the DPF, you'll increase exhaust gas flow and reduce the exhaust gas temperature, among other things, which will allow for faster turbo spool. Your power will be the same as the Maxitune map at around 275bhp if you choose that map, but how the engine puts that power out will be nicer. You will be restricted to around 260 bhp without the DPF delete.

Ah ha, understood. So the Iflash kit has the remap software mounted on it, and this is what costs the extra £100 (which is fair enough, as you mention it saves a trip to Scotland )

I would still like info on the expected gains though, a before and after dyno would be nice.

I'll be checking my bank balance tonight and putting my name down tomorrow if all checks out.

I've been considering this for A few months, so this might be the shove I need, there is a before / after dyno graph on the forum which is very impressive 275 bhp and huge torque, will try to find a link to it.

The 275hp is with the dpf delete. I replaced the dpf myself, but I wouldn't say it is easy for a novice at all, it's all pretty tight. If you're used to fixing cars and have lots of tools, surely it's a doddle.

There are also some MY2010 that can be remapped, these will do 285bhp.... ask Stan for more info.

Best if to go to Stan and let him do all the installing, his rates are good and you get all the experience.

There are some threads on this subject, please take the time to read them if you want to learn more and perhaps put your questions there, then all the questions are in one place:

OOooh so is that THREE of us so far?

Roll up Roll up chickens! only two more required. Please note that this does NOT have to be for a 123, it can be any model, as long as you get either an iFlash or a DPFD/iFlash kit.

Must... not... spend... money...

Just out of interest, once you have the remap on your car, can you sell the iFlash unit on to save someone else money? i.e. they just buy the map from Ecotune?
