Service Pack - Exceeding Interval

Post by LadyBayImp » Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:41 pm

Evening

I’ve got my first (service pack) service booked in about 10 days time, we calculated I’d be just under the miles remaining based on my weekly commute, but I’ve done more miles than I expected so will be 250 over the number on the iDrive.

Does anyone know if they give you a grace period, or will I void my warranty and/or forfeit the rest of the service pack?

I was about that far over if not a bit more for my brake fluid service and end of warranty check with no issue. Given you have to book weeks in advance to get a courtesy car you’d do well to line it up perfectly. Doesn’t show up as a late service in iDrive so should be fine.

Fairly sure it's 1000 miles grace on mileage based services and 1 month on time based, but don't take that as gospel

Thanks guys.

Yeah, would be a bit harsh considering I booked it a month ago. Looking forward to the Cooper S I’ve got while it’s in there :P

It’s in for a day or two for the dreaded rattle plus a fix for suspected corrosion on the hub causing a clicking noise.

Hoping that after the inevitable palm off for the exhaust, I’ll have it back there in the new year for an MPE.

Yeah, part of me winces when I think of how many M1 miles I stick on each year, but then again why sit in a boring car!

At least I’ll get my money’s worth out of the service pack :)

I’ll swap cars with SWMBO for the drive to Leeds tomorrow though (xc60) - don’t fancy some bellend sliding into my pride and joy

Thanks. Popped into Sytner this afternoon after no reply to my email - not sure how clued up he was, but pretty sure the chap said 3,000 or 1 month. He said the only time they’re bothered is if it’s 10,000 past service, although I sincerely doubt that would be their stance if the engine went pop!

Does the 1000 miles grace work both ways (ie. can you get the service done up to 999 miles early)? Asking as mine is showing service due in 2400 so wondering if I should get it done in 1500 or so (5 year service pack).
