M135i + M2 on track vid

Post by git-r2 » Sun Jan 14, 2018 12:12 pm

From Bedford Autodrome yesterday.

Absolutely brilliant afternoon. Didn’t get to say hello to the driver of the M2, but waved and smiled - he looked like he was having a lot of fun 8)

My M135 has a racechip, M4 pads/LCA’s, BMW LSD. Best lap time was around 2:50, no idea how that compares but fast enough for me!

Hope some may enjoy watching this:

And, my usual attempts at killing tyres

Cheers :)

You're alive! Belated Happy New Year.

Is an M2 worth twice the price, from where you were sitting? I'm regularly told an M2 would 'utterly destroy me on track', but it doesn't seem to be the case at all?

Nice lines.....and a good example of a well driven m lite vs a 9/10th driven M2. The M2 looked tidy other than that driver induced wobble.

Just shows how good an M2 would be with some proper power. Disappointing that the 135 can keep with them down the straight with some minor mods.

Why bmw didn’t put a full blown S55 into the M2 I don’t know.

Enjoyed that - are the M4 pads noticeably better than stock?

Cheers Marco, happy new year!

For me, it isn’t but then I couldn’t afford the extra 20k required to buy the m2! It’s more about aesthetics, the M2 looks fab, my ‘ugly 1’ doesn’t.

The m lites have similar lap times across many different tests so an M2 is never going to destroy you ;)

Thanks mate, I think the M2 CS or whatever they call it will have the S55 :)

Yup they definitely improve stock and for the money are a no brainier. This set did about 20 laps of ring and about 4 track days maybe. Very long lasting, the rears are still good.

Great driving as always, I enjoyed that. It would be good to see how much quicker you’d be in a M2 over your fettled m135i.

I think this is the key. The M2’s advantage isn’t big enough to bridge the gap between different driving abilities...

I have to say having had the m2 im not suprised by this, my 140 feels faster tbh, and on track the standard m2 wasnt that great.
M140 manual, with a few good bits from BMS, BCS, MOTECH, EIBACH etc.

Thanks mate :)

Doubt I'd be much quicker in an M2 but would selflessly offer to try should anyone wish to lend me one? :D :D

Most of the track tests usually have them within a second or 2, the difference at Bedford would be bigger as it's such a long track. The M4's have a bigger difference, Evo mag tested the M3 and were 3.5 seconds quicker than my stock 1. The difference would be less now with the mods but doubt it'd be 3.5 secs.

The only valid comparison is straight line speed, he had a passenger but we should offset that against my ballooned xmas waistline...
