I think it' a little related to postcode. Around here there are so few younger people, due to house prices.
If I drive to Crawley or Milton Keynes, see loads of young lads getting all racey!
I've experienced this rarely, in any car. But a couple spring to mind, when the other person was being an arse and I didn't have sufficient patience at that moment
Some bewinged Evo changing down and flooring it as I was passing him, back end dipped sharply and a load of JDM soot came out
So rather than drop back, I gave in to temptation and nailed it past anyway!
RS4 on a dual carriageway in RH lane for miles going too slowly. I'm normally pretty patient and just wait it out if a little flash won't budge them. This time he was constantly checking in his mirrors and slowing down more. I stayed well back.
We negotiated a roundabout and he dropped the hammer and moved into the left lane. I flew past, underpants fully lit.
It was immensely satisfying at the time, but I should have carried on ignoring him. Turned out to be a customer of mine, who mentioned it months later
The last time, I was entering the biggest, longest stretch of uphill DC I know of. Clear light evening as I passed a few cars and had the road to myself, so booted it a bit
One of the passed cars zoomed out and nailed it, so I thought I'd just leave it cooking and say goodby. Not happening and now keeping up!
So I thought better of it. If they want some sort of race, I'm not playing any more, so off you go if you want.....
On came the blue lights
Earned me a 3 month driving ban! (in 2009)
Never had any of this in Cayman or Macan though, only 130i and 135i
I also think how YOU drive can come into it. If you're seen zipping about and getting a move on around other traffic, if brings out the competitive spirit in some (mostly young men)
