M240i v M2 ( cars on the road )

Post by Jessi » Mon Mar 12, 2018 8:08 pm

I’ve no idea of the exact numbers, but is it me or isn’t there many M240i’s around ?
I know for a little more the M2 is out there, and I know for a little less the M140i is a bargain....
In the last 12 months I swear I’ve seen about 10 x M2’s
and only 4 x M240i’s...... for the record I drive around London through the night and travel to and from Surrey every day.
I thought the numbers would be the other way around.
For the record I’ve seen maybe 17/18 M140i’s in this time.

Up until the end of quarter 3 2017 there was 5300 M140is, 2500 M240is and 1700 M2s.

The M2 appeared to be selling better in recent months with the discounts and finance deals.

I think I've seen one or two M2's on the road which is surprising but seen loads of M lite coupe and hatches.. I guess unless you see the badge the M235 looks just like the M240 unless specced with the dark wheels

Looking at those numbers it’s probably just a London thing !
There’s normally an M2 lurking around Knightsbridge somewhere, I probably see more M140’s than M135’s now days.... but M240’s and M235’s seem pretty rare in London that’s for sure

Only 1.6k of m135i I manual left. I guess my car will be quite rare in 10 years considering that even now there is probably not that many m135i lci in manual.

Rare doesn't always mean more desirable though sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't. An M2 is generally considered more desirable than an M240 that's a fact but a manual over an auto in either car, not so sure only time will tell.

Back on topic, I don't see a great deal M235/40's or M2's in fact I cant remember the last time I spotted an M240i but I do see a LBB M2 but stats clearly state there are more m240i's then M2's and if you add M235i to the mix there is well over double which doesn't surprise me one bit as the M2 didn't come out until well after the M235i but before the M240i if I recall.

Thats why! Knightsbridge.

I never see a Lamborghini pottering about in Winchmore Hill/Southgate but I see plenty if I drive around Knightsbridge :D

As I live in London, I couldn't think of anything worse than driving around Central London!! Cyclists and taxi galore!!
