Bonnet badge

Post by ash8433 » Sun Mar 18, 2018 8:41 am

Anybody had to replace a bonnet badge ?
Just had mine stolen and got a replacement from bmw , but I’m not sure if something is missing
On the badge are three holes that look like something on the car goes into ,but on the car there are also 3 holes slightly protruding moulded into the bonnet that pretty much look the same
I have been on real oem and the only extra I can see are plastic grommets but they appear to go into the holes in the car and won’t really make any difference as there still won’t be anything sticking out to locate into the badge .
Any ideas ? Or do I need to open my eyes

Is it 51767288752 ? Or have they mistakenly sold you the wrong one?

Should be self-adhesive?

Thanks for replying Marco .
That is the badge I have got
Just been out to have another look in better light and it appears the little darling that took my original has broken off the raised moulded pins that are part of the bumper that locate into those holes on the badge .
It also looks like those grommets on real oem slot onto the pins in the bumper and make a tighter fit into the holes in the bagde
Do you reckon the adhesive strip on its own will hold it on or a bit of superglue required ?

I'd expect the adhesive strip will be good enough, provided it's stuck on to a nice clean surface.

Cheers Marco I’ll give it a go and hope it stays on.
As a heads up to others if yours goes walk about .
Bmw charge the princely sum of just shy of £40 for a badge .
Maybe ebay next time if it happens again

Could be worse, ...I know Porsche used to charge £50 for one of their gold shield type bonnet badges (on a Porsche 944) and that was back in 1996!!

Just had a look, over £80 today.
