Alternative MPE tips

Post by G1_rpc » Sun Jun 24, 2018 9:01 am

Morning all, I'm getting an MPE fitted on Tuesday, but I've been quoted £225+ vat for the carbon tips. So I'm thinking I'll take the F.O.C. chrome tips, flog them on the bay of e, and see if there are any cheaper alternatives.

Can anyone help with what fits the M Performance exhaust nicely?

Question’s been asked plenty of times; most say that there’s no direct replacement for the MPE tips. You either have to get some welded on or some eBay tips but they’re all too long and you have to trim the exit pipes on the MPE Image

As far as I know, the chrome tips are not FOC. The MPE consists of two part numbers, a tip less backbox and either a chrome or carbon tip set. If you plan on selling the chrome tips, perhaps just don’t buy them in the first place?

Hi chaps, thanks for replying.

Long story cut short, I'm getting the MPE free from Sytner as a goodwill gesture. So I don't really have the option as to which tips I recieve unless I contribute the amount mentioned previously. Which is why I'm asking if there are alternatives. I tried to ask for the chrome tips but it fell on deaf ears. Besides, I'm happy to get an MPE regardless of tip finish, I just favour the darker finish.

I did search through several pages to see if there was an answer but couldn't find anything. Apologies.

Think I read somewhere that the tips from a 640d msport fit the MPE, but not sure whether that required any work or not.

Just a quick one, why are they giving you a free MPE? Do you think they will give me one? :-)

MPE comes with either Chrome tips or Carbon. It shouldn't be provided without tips at all.

Mine was provided with no tips. I re used tips from oem exhaust .... yes they do fit with a bit of a nudge!

My search for tips continues!! Going to weld some Acripovic I think. 🤔

I took the free chrome tips then just got them powder coated matte black. Looks good imo with the black diffuser.

I'm not sure a BMW forum is the best place to discuss them

I got a free MPE from Sytner this time last year due to the exhaust rattle issue. I took the chrome as they were part of the free fix, I would have had to pay to upgrade to Carbon. To be honest... I like the Chrome tips. Need a clean every now and then but they do look good.
