Exhaust Tips Discussion

Post by DT M235i » Fri Feb 13, 2015 10:26 am

Hi all,

I'm yet to receive my M235i, 6 weeks to go.. and I am already concerned about the black OEM exhaust tips rusting and looking pitted. We have a couple of M135i's at my work and I don't know if people just don't bother cleaning them because they are black, but they always look a bit naff.

I have read/seen that people have fitted 435i chrome exhaust tips or M Performance Tips to the OEM Box.

What are people experience/advice?

I give mine a quick wipe once or twice a week and they look ok for a dirty exhaust pipe negligible pitting.

chrome 435i exhaust trims are too blingy for my liking. I chose to powder coat the chrome MPE tips satin black. Stealthy looking and fit/forget in terms of maintain when compared to std exhaust black chrome trims.

I use silicone spray [GT85 or similar] on m/bikes to keep black bits clean. Works well and ready available from Halfords etc.

The black ones do seem to look dirty very quickly and don't last very long before they start pitting, my car's only 4 months old and the drivers side is on it's way out, I've ordered some chrome ones which I like the look of anyway, my 435i had those and seemed to be in good condition after 5 months

My chrome tips still look good after almost a year.

Anyone gone for the 435i brushed-effect tips yet?

Bit off topic, but fairly relevant. Are the MPE tips larger than the stock ones ? I feel the stock ones look very weedy

If you want big tips, go for a BCS Powerflow.

I'm quite pleased with the look and maintenance on my m performance tips. I juts have the stock exhaust on my 2er but the m perfomance tips and rear diffuser. They are a little bigger and against the dark diffuser stand out nicely.

Yes I missed out on some on ebay, thats how I found out you can fit them.

But I have also got a price from the dealers for M Performace tips to fit the factory box, but I would keep the standard diffuser.

Have you got a photo of how yours looks?
