The car is massively better with an ATB fitted - the back end feels to work as one, rather than a delayed and artificial feel of the e-diff. In full nanny mode, the electronics are infrequently triggered now. Had it been a factory option to have an ATB, I'd have ticked the box!

With everything off, controllable drifts are easy too (on the track).

Cotswold will do the Drexler diff for a little over £2k. Painful I know.

It's major bonus however is the benefit of being able to remove it, refitting your original diff and getting a solid £1500 back for it when you part with the car.

You could do similar by buying a used OE diff to have the Quaife fitted into. Will probably work out the same give or take.
M135i more-door with added Drexler win.

Seems crazy there are only the two options!

I don't know how many more options the market could realistically support, there's not that many 35i/40i's around and only a small fraction of those will go to the bother of buying an LSD

Thanks BP and MP for the feedback.

To add a bit more info, this thread/post seems to indicate that the e-diff is still active with an LSD installed.

"This car was equipped with a mechanical LSD as well - so even with a mechanical LSD, the system still provides additional inputs."

It's probably safe to say that, if you have an LSD installed, you could consider the e-diff to be more like a "brake torque vectoring" system?

No question about it, LSD makes all the difference even when not 10/10. I have a Quaife, fitted by Birds. Pulling out of junctions, power down out of bends - just feel more controllable.

Yep, single best mod done to my car (I have an E92 M3 diff in an E82 135i) as the e-diff is pants and just cocks up your driving, its particualrly horrible on track.

As a former drifter I prefer the M3 to the Quaife but if youre into proper hustling along or are ever going to use the car on track an LSD is a must IMO - you also need to code the e-diff out on the E82 as it keeps intefering even with LSD fitted, dont know if its the same on the later cars.

Wavetrac also do an LSD, not sure of any UK dealers, nor of ease of fitment procedure.
