Folding mirrors

Postby Jellyfishfields » Thu Jan 12, 2017 9:58 am

I just have a quick question regarding the electric folding mirrors.

Do you know if they can be coded to fold in automatically when the car is locked?

If so I may add them to the option list, handy way of checking the car is locked from a distance if nothing else.

I believe they are set on the basis of how long you hold the lock button the remote (a few seconds by default). You can then code this time to effectively 0 so they will always close on pressing lock.

Someone on here has done it so hopefully they'll be along with the esys details as it's something I've been meaning to do myself.

I am going to reduce the delay before folding occurs but will still leave a short delay so that I still have the option to not fold the mirrors when parking the car in freezing temps.

Thanks to the both of you.

Can this be done through the normal choices in the car by ourselves or does the dealer have to do it?

Ask Wibble (see Coding section of this forum), or you can do it yourself using Carly

I've had mine coded to fold up on first locking. Had it done last weekend.

Its coding, you or someone else has to do it, BMW Dealer won't.

I'd be interested in this coding option too if anyone can quote a price to do it?

My folding mirrors aren't folding at all with the fob currently, but I have Carly iOS app & obd2 adapter so will be coding mine when I can get Sytner to fix it.

Assuming it works when I try it, I'm happy to do yours for free if you live anywhere near Nottingham?

Bet you're counting the days for the arrival. Trust me it's worth the wait! Bring on the sunshine that's all I can say! :D

The BMW ConnectedDrive app is also good for this - no need to look out the window. Plus you can lock it if you forgot :)

Yes you can code this!

With esys it should be this:
FEM_BODY 3053 KOMFORT_SCHL_VORNE User Value werte = 05 Convenience Closing: Delay between Front and Rear windows
