Thank you for the feedback.

We have tuned a few JCW's ;-)

We recently sold the Evolve R56 Cooper S and it will be missed. Great cars when they don't have carbon build up!

Do you guys have any plans for the F20/21?
At the moment we do not have access to the ECU's so tuning is not available but we plan to bring some hardware out next year.

Yeah it may be a good idea to wait until you can get some traction. Evolve tuned 1M's are one of my favourite cars.

around 35-45 BHP and 50-60 lb.ft torque. Standard cars make around 350-360 on our dyno so end up near the 400 BHP mark.

What does tuning a R56 Cooper S involve? I'm picking mine up tomorrow and am intrigued. How much is it, and whats the process and results?

Introduction to Evolve (Pic heavy)

Best thing to do is speak to Kev at Sussex Road and Race (who designed the first JCW cars and builds/runs Mini Challenge cars) mate. He built mine and can advise on the different stages. Either that or speak to Imran at evolve as they have different hardware and software packages to suit your needs.

Basically you could go for a pure software tune (either using their kit or the remote option using your laptop to upload and manage your tunes).

Or you can go for a hardware and software option with an updated inter cooler, down pipe, exhaust and air box for bigger gains.

Either way the tuning is a map uploaded onto the ECU which is switchable don't think it increments.

Hope this makes sense

I would be VERY wary of warranty implications of either having a catch can or moding this engine. I think it's widely accepted that this engine is inherently not fit for purpose. Well accepted by me anyway  .

So while I agree that some mods may improve things on that front, personally I wouldn't run one without an uncompromised warranty, particularly as you have paid for said warranty by buying Cherished.

The other aspect is that traction quickly becomes the limiting factor, at least in second/third.
Megane RS Cup-S - due early June 2016
LCI M135i 3-dr, manual - bought June 15 - Sold May 16
Toyota GT86 - bought Nov 14 - Sold May 15
E82 125i M Sport on 130i power and brakes, MSS tyres - sold NOV 14

Warranty is something that does bother me. I can understand Mini/BMW refusing a claim due to modifying the engine in some way, so do the tuner accept any responsibility? I doubt it.
