Ambient LED Higher Brightness

Post by M--O--L--E » Thu Oct 06, 2016 3:59 pm

Hi all,

Is it possible to increase the maximum brightness of the interior ambient LED lighting on my M135i beyond 'maximum'?

I have the optional extra of Ambient Lighting (little LEDs in the footwell, door handles, rear and front roof lining) which is great but I wish it was a bit brighter - I've set it to max in iDrive and you can only notice the ambient light when in the pitch black. On lit motorways etc it's not noticeable.

Also (but I doubt this is possible) are the LED's RGB and if so can you add more colour options than 'Classic' and 'Sport'?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

No one seems to have replied; so in short, yes this can be done with coding - talk to Wibbles, works on both the Sport and Classic option.

Thanks

Yes, but how much brighter is pretty subjective.
F21 M135i - AW CR - lots of options.

It's certainly not Heathrow runway 1; but it's about 35%/40% brighter when using the Sports white light, an appears a good 50% brighter when in Classic orange.

This might be obvious but in case someone missed it, the ambient brightness (at least in my car) is not only dependent of the brightness setting in the IDrive menu, but also depends on the brightness of the instruments on the dash panel.

This is one i might fire up esys again for if i can find the parameters to tweak.

As gimbal said, if you adjust the idrive setting to max, and then scroll your instrument cluster brightness wheel you'll notice the ambient lights get brighter / dimmer.

The problem is that if you want brighter ambient lighting, your instrument cluster is so bright you need sun glasses on to drive at night or risk retinal burn.

There must be a coding option somewhere that sets the idrive option to a higher value on max, just not found it yet...

Was looking for this too. Has anyone tried these?

Code: Select all

FEM_BODY 3070 Ambiente_Helligkeit User Value 64 Brightness of Interior Ambient Lighting (Value is in HEX)
FEM_BODY 3070 Ambiente_Nachfuehrung nicht aktiv aktiv Separates Ambient Light Level and Instrument Cluster Light Level

Any update on this? I had a loaner 330i GT a couple weeks ago and the ambient lighting in that is a solid 200% brighter than what it is in mine.
