Coding gone wrong?

Post by lukadabuca » Mon May 21, 2018 2:45 pm

Hi guys. I coded ebt and screen mirroring on the weekend with BimmerCode. Drove the car a couple times since and it's been fine including my journey to work this morning.

Just jumped in the car now and the window wipers won't turn off. I also can't indicate or use full beam. Basically the stalks are just in responsive.

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Luke

Just reload the backup and start again, double checking what you are coding

Don't use Bimmercode - this is the second occurance of this soort of thing I've heard of in the last 2 days.

Just because "there is an App for that", does not mean you should use it on a 30 grand car.

Indeed, that was a typo.

I still don't reccomend it as I've seen and worked on enough cars that have been borked when bimmercode has been used.

So the owner of BimmerCode has tried to help but doesn't think its a coding issue. The car was OK from Friday till this afternoon so guess he may be right.

I don't have a back up so am I screwed?

I used it to do a couple of bits and it doesn’t seem to work properly, I coded out the stop/start function to remain of and does what it wants, also my windows open about 2 inches when unlocking the car, which is not good if it’s chucking it down. Wibbles I would be interested in some coding from you as I’ve heard you are the forum guru

My point is, people use it regardless of cost of the car in question.

I'm confused.

The car worked fine until you attempted to code it at which point it went wrong. But it's not a coding issue?!?!

I coded it. It worked fine for a couple days. Now it doesn't. He thinks its not a coding issue as I didn't change anything on the module that is to do with the wipers etc.

I only played about with the head unit section.

I know you coded it. I saw all the posts regarding EBT and screen mirroring.

It just seems odd that you did the coding over the weekend and come Monday various electrical aspects of the car aren't working.

One hell of a coincidence if it's not coding related.

BMW came and the guy was great. He knew I'd done some coding and said it was very unlikely that the coding had caused the issued. He explained the brain of the car is like a tube map with various parts interlinking. Something just wasn't communicating with the steering wheel and the stalks. He fixed it within 20 mins and the tings I've coded previously are still working. He said next time it happens to just remove the negative terminal from the battery for 10 minutes. He also said its best not to use BimmerCode lol
