Turned mine up a notch. Much cheaper than fitting an MPE!

Does it sound anything like the m2, guessing the answer would be a big fat no!

 nope. You can switch it to the S55 engine (M2/3/4) but it doesn't sound as good as the B58. Probably because there are complex acoustics going on designed to work with the relevant engine.

Fair enough! The wait is torturous!

Long time lurker here.

Just tried this procedure as found my M140i to be way to quiet but getting the same problem as Chipstix with the VIN greyed out.

Has anyone tried disconnecting the battery yet to see if that fixes the issue?

Tried disconnecting the battery (make sure you don't close the boot else be prepared to climb in through the front... ) for 20 minutes and still getting the same below issue but also this error message after a few seconds. Any ideas what to try next?

Could be a duff cable. Try leaving the battery disconnected a while longer.

I assume this guide can be used for M240 too> Just make sure F22 is selected when asked for model?

Bought the ENET cable, which should arrive tomorrow. Hoping to give it a go this week!

So I gave this a crack this morning...

Firstly, I picked F022:

But on the next step F022 is not available, the closest is F020?

More importantly, the Connection via VIN is greyed out. I've read about disconnecting the battery, but is that the same as leaving the car alone for a bit? The cable is brand new from eBay. I think the main problem might be that I'm running Windows inside a virtual machine on a Mac using VM Ware Fusion. Any ideas how to configure the network in this case? Also, my MacBook has an ethernet port so I'm not using the usb -> ethernet as mentioned in the guide.

Sorted! Had to setup the network in a slightly different way! Going to take it for a blast now and will report back.

So I'm now on vol 4 (TL) from stock 2 (ML). Have to say it doesn't sound massively louder, but I think it's louder? I think I might give 5 a go next!

I am concerned that I had to pick F020 in the E-Sys dropdown connection dialogue, but I read else where to pick that for all 2 series'? Can anyone confirm?
