Coding from base stereo to HiFi (F22)

Post by matsmith749 » Tue Dec 20, 2016 10:56 am

Guys - I've done a speaker swap on my base stereo m240i F22.

Can someone point me in the right direction to change the coding to get rid of the EQ curve? I know I need to 'code HiFi', but where is that exactly?

I've got the eSys & cable ready to go - just need a pointer.

Many thanks - Matt

No further sadly. Seems like something lots of people talk about doing (after a speaker upgrade) but the information on how to do it does not appear to be common knowledge.

Weird really - thought this would be a common change?

On my F20 this worked... I found it originally in an F30 section... you will find them under the HU section

3002-> audio_system_cic -> select type of speaker setup you have in your car
3002-> audio_system_var -> option sa_audio_system1 , 2 , 3 , default. these changes the way the head unit EQs the car.

I did it when I installed the Alpine upgrade and it made a HUGE difference

I left the audio system on hifi, and changed the system var to audio system 1 instead of default. Speakers seem to sound better

I prefer to use a public forum as a place to share information, rather than somewhere to get free advertising & tout your services online for a charge.

I hear good things about your service Wibbles, if you would care to post the info then I would really appreciate it (in the spirit of a public forum).

Thanks - Matt

Wibbles is a forum sponsor so pays a fee to advertise the business he runs. The business is his income so you pay for his services. Do you work for nothing ?

Who are you - Wibbles Dad? I'd be happy to hear from the man himself if he wants to chip in.

My point is, if I ask a question on a painting forum about doing abit of painting, someone saying 'I can do it for you for a fee' isn't a lot of help.
If I'm attempting a spot of DIY building work, a post saying 'I can do it for you for a fee' isn't helpful either.

This is public domain, discussing a regularly recurring topic where the answer seems to be unknown / kept secret so it can be charged for.

When I find out the answer as to what needs to be coded, I will share it here for all to use (if they would like it).

So yes, I will do some work to find out what's what & then share it for free. That's just the way I roll.

Thanks - Matt

I pay to advertise on this forum, like other sponsors.

I still offer a lot of advice for free as I'm still a forum member.

If you want to to the amount of research I have done, and continue to do, for coding then doing it yourself is cool, I'm all for people doing DIY coding!

If on the other hand you cannot be bothered, are not IT literate or don't want to screw a 30k car, then I can code for a small fee, it's as simple as that.
