Can I ask what the the difference is with MPE v1 and v2 then, I thought v2 was to fix a cold start rattle but it sounds (no pun) like it perhaps changed internally also.
Below is a response I got from Cotswold BMW on the same question.

The main difference is a button in the boot which you need to press every time you get in, in order for you to be able to use the bluetooth remote to open and close the flap.
So why would BP's faith be restored if it was just a button in the the boot? Surely thwe button in the boot can't be seen as a good thing.

BP, in your eyes (or ears) why is the MPE better now?

Takes all of 5 minutes if that to do.
Black M2 - DCT - black grills - MPE - and a slight wince when I get home late or start early.

Had mine done today, sounds and looks amazing. I haven't had time to experiment with the settings yet but I'm already convinced it was worth the outlay.

Does V1 contain the switch in the boot, Cotswolds mentioned it as if that confirms V2?

V1 - no red button in the boot to block the BT valve controller
V2 - red button in the boot to block the BT valve controller

Terry

I think there’s a V3 now - essentially V2 but with a better clamp connection where mpe joins existing front pipe.....

V1 & V2 - 2 bolt sleeve clamp which can leak - 2 bolt as per photo below.

Probably explains why some dealers now offering heavily discounted MPE's which are more likely the older / troublesome type joint to shift older stock.

V3 - maybe for LCI perhaps, now have a joint/ single bolt clamp slide over existing front pipe - see photo below

Ah ok, I was assuming that v2 came with 1 bolt on the clamp. I have asked Cotswolds to confirm as £2k for v3 in this case sounds almost reasonable with some man maths applied.

Terry, I'd be interested if Cotswolds was selling the v3 option for this price and not the v2, let me know please
