Service plan, any good?

Post by jonnydrama » Fri Sep 01, 2017 1:55 pm

I've read some people complaining about the service plans not being worth it on other BMWs anymore as it's changed to 3 years / 36k miles.

Is the M2 plan the same story at £999?

Depends I you're talking about service inclusive or service inclusive plus.
My M2 service inclusive was priced at £800 for 5 years. I believe that post January 2017 it's now around £475 for 3 years

Or negotiate it. Depending on how and what you're negotiating I would potentially ask them to throw it in for free. After lots of discussion and an agreement on price I threw some last minute options at them and this was one.

I stand corrected.
M cars are now £999 for three years.
That's no longer a bargain!

I think you can only get value from it if you do a lot of miles where you guarantee to get 2 services in the 3 year period (around 36k (18x2) if condition based service around that time)

You could enquire about how much to service your M2 (interim & main) and then see if it's worth paying for it within the 3 year period you will own it.

You need to get 3 services in the 3 years for it to be worth it. Basically approx 13k miles a year at least.

running in service.
£368.70 ( I know this can be £290)
Due at 1,200 miles.**

Oil & Micro-filter service

£301.93
Due at approx 12-18,000 miles.** or when car is 2 years old

Oil & Micro-filter service, Air Filter & Spark Plug service
£671.74 ***
Due at approx 24-36,000 miles.**
This will be outside of 3 years for most

Over 3 years that would mean you would only have the running in service approx £360 max probably a fair bit lessand the 1st service at 2 years old for £300 ish, your car wouldn't need servicing after that until it was 4 years old so the £999, 3 year service pack is a big no no!

£999 for 3 years ain't worth it unless you're clocking up serious mileage

Yes.

And launch control activated and I've read the rpm limit is increased.

I won't go with the service plan, because you can only do service when your BMW says so. And they say you could ride 30.000km with the same oil, and I'm never going to wait for that milliage to change my oil..

I got the £800 for 5 yr pack before they increase it.... Seems like better value maybe?

The 5 year plan I no longer available in the UK. £800 for a 5 year plan is a good deal as you will get the running in service, 1st service at 2 years and then the bigger more expensive service at 4 years old as a minimum, that's a £1000 I imagine as a minimum. But its no longer an option so its 3 year rip off plan or pay as you go.
