M2 Test Drive

Post by OrtonM135i » Sat Nov 11, 2017 8:28 pm

I’m fortunate enough to be in position now to get an M2 as a replacement fo my current M140i... only trouble I’m having is arranging a test drive. 3 dealerships have all struggled to do get anything I can drive in the last 3/4 weeks a few in stock but none to drive.

Annoyingly Milton Keynes BMW offered me a 1 day take it or leave it chance to drive the new M5 and an M2 but I was away with work so couldn’t

Anyone know any dealers with an M2 available to drive? Or any suggestions on how to get one? Any help would be great

If they have them in stock why can’t you drive them?

Surely you must be able to find a used one they are prepared to let you drive. My dealer had 2 demo cars over the last 12 months and they allowed me half days in both.

I can only assume as those cars they’ve had in stock are pre reg and want them to remain at delivery mileage. I may just have had awkward dealers! Annoying as I’ve already been a BMW customer for 2 years
Should be able to get a few days off work to get over to wherever dealer has one I can try

You don't need a test drive, they are fantastic

Lol I love your enthusiasm but mostly it’s to decide manual or DCT on the M2

I’m sold on the car and personally I reckon it’s the best looking M car I’ve seen in the flesh

Ahh ok, I tried both but I am a paddle shifter convert, particularly with the DCT. You lose some interaction but the DCT car feels substantially more urgent, to me at least. £400 cheaper first year tax as well!!

the issue you will have is are you going to buy from the dealer that let you have the drive or are you just going to use them for the demo and then go elsewhere?

a lot of dealers know this is the game played on M product

Thanks for the info all, I’ve got a DCT just registered demo to test drive 1/1.5 hours or so I’m told, booked for Tuesday in Milton Keynes where I work so il give that a blast.

I may try the Lincoln one cadmunkey, depending on what the dealership can offer in terms of discount. I will just make the swap and buy straight away if I’m happy I’ve got a good deal. I’m aiming for 10-12% discount if I’m lucky by the sounds of it but I’m also really after one in grey or long beach blue

If you are going to use them for a demo and then go elsewhere to buy then its up to that dealer to give you a fair price, yes?
