Service Recommendations - Glasgow

Post by TerryCTR » Sat Dec 02, 2017 9:18 pm

As per the title if any members are around the Glasgow area who do you trust/use for service work? I’ve got 900 miles to go before the RIS is due so trying to plan ahead

Isn't the first service just an oil change?

Although BMW dealers aren't great, I wouldn't take such a fresh car anywhere else. It's a box ticking exercise and everyone looks out for the run in service as being vital.

I think that’s all it is and they activate launch.

Yeah that’s was my thought it needs to be a bmw dealer for the first one although I was toying with going to B for BMW in Clydebank

I hate putting cars in for a service or a tyre change - it’s my excuse for changing cars so regularly!

1200 miles would be very early to change.

Personally I'd just phone around the local dealers and push down the price. It's not too bad from what I read.

I would instantly rule out Harry Fairbairn as they are Arnold Shark.

Yeah it’s not a great choice I have Douglas Park in Hamilton or Glasgow by the looks of it

Ring around for quotes, friend from Hamilton went to HF Kirkcaldy as they were cheapest for his.

HF is Arnold Shark as mentioned - I can’t say that fills me with confidence

@TerryCTR, where did you get your service in the end? I am booked for DP in Hamilton soon, was the best offer I found. That said, they initially insisted on me coming by to read the service requirements from the key - just to get a price. Told them to get sorted and they produced a cost a couple of minutes later. HF quoted £40 more.

I’m still only on c.500 miles mate. I’m debating Hamilton over going up to fife for the RIS if I go for the MPE and have it fitted at the same time. Will be good to see what you think of Hamilton

Car back from service today. Can't fault the service, the service advisor was a real petrol head. She even asked if I wanted the car washed or not which was a nice touch. Got a 1 series loaner which was nice to compare (Spoiler, does not compare).
The car seems much louder with considerably more crackling since I picked it up, but this might just be my imagination.

Glad to hear it mate, I’m now going off the MPE somewhat with all the rattle talk so I think Hamilton it is for me. How long did it take?

Dropped it off in the morning and collected in the evening. They sent a video of a chap looking at the tyres as well and did a campaign update of the idrive, see separate thread.
Re MPE I really could and would not want the car any louder, at start up it's insane - well that's my opinion.
