M2 - stance sorted c/o MP coilovers

Post by Blind Pugh » Fri Feb 23, 2018 9:58 am

Big hand to Paul Martins and his team at Cooper Banstead. Paul is soon moving to a new role at Vines Redhill - top guy to deal with.

Needs 500-1000miles to settle the new parts in fully but initial impressions are good and I'm a happy chap.

Yao was there with his stock Black M2 below by way of comparison...

Yao picked up his car from Cooper Banstead yesterday, after having same kit installed, so look out for his feedback and photos...

You can really see the difference in the last picture.

Another mod to add to my growing list :)

Looking good BP... Look forward to hearing what you think about them after having some time playing with it..

Is the rebound adjuster accessible without removing the rear damper with the MP coilover set?

Yes

Worse case - wheel off to see/adjust the thumbwheel situated just above yellow bumpstop in the photo above;

Best case - if you are a jedi knight with small hands - its a reach around behind the tyre and use The Force to tweak rebound 8)

Looks great BP, ideal ride height looks wise. Bet you can’t wait for some decent weather to really test out the new setup!

The MPS4S have helped the grip and pliancy of the chassis on my standard M2 and the springs seem to have bedded in really well now at 6,000 miles in so I’m happy for now... but Il be looking at MPerformance coilovers by June/July time I think

What can I say other than I just love this car, no mods or upgrades as I honestly haven’t had any need or want to do anything to it.

BP - looks class!

Wish BMW offered a similar MPerf option for the F3x chassis!

Haha yeah... that’s why I say June Sooty... I know what I’m like and I’ve not done 9 months without modifying a car in the last 3 years Image

Update:-

The car has now fully settled on the MP c/overs and been back into BMW for re-tweaking/KDS re-check. Photo below during a ~350 mile round trip to Great Yarmouth yesterday for business meetings. Ride height is as per BMW specs F&R 595mm/600mm between wheel arch at 12 o'clock and wheel rim at 6 o'clock.

Image

Anyone thinking of upgrading suspension but on the fence about MP c/overs - get it done - superb. Comfortable and so much fun. Went off piste on some cracking A&B roads and ended up Audi-baiting - 1st R8 4.2 then a TTRS....

There and back on a brimmed tank of fuel and the light came on about 10miles from home - who says M2 can't hack it as a DD ???

Can also highly recommend bilstein B16s if anyone looking for an alternative. Can also go that little bit lower if needed. As BP said coilovers really transform a very good car into a great car.
