Code flap to be open

Post by Abs. » Mon May 14, 2018 10:23 am

Hello all,

Has anyone successfully coded the flap on the standard M2 exhaust to be permanently open? (for a nicer sound)

If so, what code was changed in Bimmercode?

If not via code, is there a mechanical way to keep it open? (like the M3/M4 mod)

Thanks,

I wanted to do this but don't have an iPhone to install bimmerlink on which does it I think.

When it is open, you can unplug the valve... the issue I had was verifying that it was open before doing that - so I gave up temporarily haha. I thought it is better to have it sometimes open than potentially definitely shut all the time if I unplug it in the wrong position

Just shine a light up there to check. The butterfly is visible when you look up there.

I couldn't see it lol

Just to be clear we're talking about simply looking into the left set of pipes right?

Actually checking again I don't think you can - I thought the valve was nearer the exit like the 140's, but it looks like they fitted it straight after the back box before the pipe turns to exit, so doubt you would be able to see it.

I think the valves are on the outer most pipes too, one left and one right. I'm looking at google images of them though so if no-one on here can confirm probably best to have a mooch under the car for a proper look.

No that matches up with what I saw last time. It is right after the bend as well so difficult to see. Some people say you can just see the edge of it when open but I couldn't notice it. Shame.

I also tried poking something down there but it wasn't clear whether I was hitting the shut valve or just hitting / getting stuck on bends in the pipe.

You can just about see it if you look down the pipe, you will need a light though.

You can clearly see where it is here:

According to the Carly app it can do it - has anyone tried? I’ve not got my car yet so can’t test
If it's got breasts or wheels - it's going to give you trouble

I take it the flap is open on start up? I had to reverse up my drive a bit to get around another car and noticed condensation coming from both side in the reverse camera.

BimmerLink looks like it can do it.

Not sure if you have to have the connection always on.

Might be wrong but I believe just one pipe on the left is valved, not both
