My AW (Manual) M2 build

Post by m2wolf » Sat Jan 07, 2017 12:59 pm

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread on my AW M2. Just like to share the on-going mods with the car. Car will be detailed using Kamikaze Eneri ceramic coating and full frontal PPF-ed with Suntek. Other future mods include M-perf rear spoiler, diffuser & exhaust with CF tips.

It was collected on the 28/12, purchased via BMW North Oxford. Spec:

F87 M2 Coupe N55 3.0i
Alpine White
Visibility package
Sun protection package
Reversing Assist camera
Exterior Mirrors - folding with anti-dazzle
Through-loading system
Lumbar support, driver and front pass.
Seat heating, front
Harman Kardon - Hi-Fi
Apple CarPlay preparation

Unfortunately a c**k up via the dealership, they drilled the front bumper to mount the reg' plates (when I clearly informed them not to).

Anyway, let bygones be bygones. Got hold of my bodyshop to do the following:

1) Mount CF mirrors (non OEM purchased via eBay) - viewtopic.php?f=86&t=93307:

After:

2) Fix the front bumper holes:

After:

3) Spray the M-perf side wing grilles to alpine white:

From the image, the white from the m-perf grilles does seem to be a bit on the bright side. But should darken over time once it's cured.

Shame about the bumper but love the side blades been painted, think i will do the same or even paint the whole unit.
Did the mirrors come from AutoID?
Fitment looks good of the mirros, i have purchased the autoid M style mirrors in body colour AW.
What mods are you doing next?

Good move with the clear protection up front, i had this done a few weeks ago to my AW m140 and plan on having same done to my m2.

Mirrors were via an eBay reseller. If you scroll up I've placed a link there.

I've not seen the mirrors mounted yet, as those images you see is via my bodyshop man. Car should be ready for pick up tomorrow.

Monday off to BMW to have CF M-perf spoiler+diffuser fitted.

M-perf Exhaust isn't available until March. Not sure if you're aware but BMW will be releasing a revised MP-e....

I have asked for price's for cat-back system from armytrix and akrapovic so didnt really consider the MPE but thanks for the info.
I wont be adding any splitters or diffusers/spoilers to my car but will be doing performance mods.
The only aesthetics i wanted to change were removing m badges from front and rear, change mirror covers to m4 style ones and body colour, change wheels for lighter, clear bra.

No chance, their excuse was legally required plates to be drilled, etc. They did throw in a free dash cam fitted.

What's the thinking behind not wanting the front bumper drilled if the number plate has to be mounted there in the first place :?:

That's the plan. Got these stick on plates via:

http://www.dmb.uk.com/prod/2424/custom- ... reflective

Still not 100% sure if it's DVLA legal.. can't seem to find anything on DVLA/gov.uk about this. Might just order a spare plastic front just in case..
