Just ordered mine and will fit soon and post results.

My sport model has the electric side bolsters so glad I've seen someone else install the retro fit lumbar support without issues.
Personally I find the electric side bolsters pointless. When I was at the BMW dealer recently I asked how many people actually ask to make sure the electric side bolsters are fitted and they said none! Goes to show that BMW are on to a winner here by removing lumbar support as standard and charging it as an optional extra. 1st car I have had without lumbar support as standard so I've learnt the hard way!

I had one of these but it just never worked quite right for my back. I only used it for about a month and took it out. Having a clear out so I'm now selling it. It's as good as new. It cost me £45.60 in total inc packaging when I bought it but I'll take £30 and ship it to you for free.

I've advertised on eBay here:

Thanks

Was discussing this issue with the Mrs. and she questioned wether it would effect insurance as a modification. If you were injured in an accident, could they make an issue of it? Any thoughts?

Not sure how this would be classed as a mod as it would be similar to strapping one of those old bead things to the seat to support your back? It's not going to change the performance or control of the car or make it more attractive for someone to nick it??
