From a full tank I'm getting around 380 miles. A mix of local and motorway driving and it's been in Eco pro all the way.
The only reason I opted for a diesel was economy or I would have gotten an m140i

Since collecting the car on September 1st I've nearly gone through 3 full tanks.
Anyone getting similar mileage. BTW it's a 125D Msport sports-auto!

Slightly off topic, does anyone have a 116D ED Plus, if so what sort of MPG are you realistically achieving? I've only had mine 3 days. The 83MPG headline figure is what made me go for it.
Hi Zeb, 116D ED '16 here.

Got mine 3 months ago and has done 3k miles so far, so it's now past the run-in phase.

I've been monitoring the mpg for a little while. And found that brand new the mpg was terrible.

Zero miles to 1k miles it was horrendous. I was averaging 38-42mpg in medium traffic and stop/start over 12miles to work.

2k miles to 3k miles is where I'm really seeing results. I'm averaging 52mpg to work (12miles) in medium to heavy traffic with lots of stop/start.

Having said that...the mpg figures really come to their own on the motorway. Let me tell you, Halifax to London (Wembley) and BACK... which is approx 418 total miles took JUST OVER HALF A TANK. That's about £27ish if my calculations are correct, as it's £50 I believe to full tank.

I've no idea what the mpg was. But I can tell you this car doesn't and won't do close to 83mpg ever. Most I've got is 73mpg and that was today on constant 50mph in 6th over 45miles (M62).

You'll be impressed with the mpg if you drive more often on the motorway. City driving is around 52-58mpg if you keep the revs at around 1.5k constant.

I had a new 120d msport auto Sept 15 and hate the thing I'm due to pick up the m140i Friday.....
And can't wait 42mpg not the expected 60's unless you do constant motorway driving at 60mph like your grandad....
Find the 4 pot diesel boring now and can't wait to get the M140i...
My brother 335d x drive doing 36mpg same sort of driving as my 120d

Thanks for that. I'm showing an average of 62.8MPG, my daily commute is 40 miles each way, down either the A127 or the A13. Still on my first (delivery) tank, done just under 500 miles since 27th September.

My M140i is now 1100 miles old, on my commute (80 odd miles each way) I'm seeing between 33 and 36mpg, that's a 15-20min blast at the start followed by a mix of motorway/dual carriageway and town driving, but considering the motorway part is the M6/A14, its not exactly a steady cruise. I also don't use Eco-slo mode as I don't like the dull witted response, or the fact it messes with the air con.

I also managed to average about 19-20mpg on the way down to south wales early one Sunday morning . As with all performance engines (petrol or diesel), if you give it the berries, it likes a drink. Oh and in town traffic, the economy is bobbins :lol2:

I've noticed with my m235i that when it is cold the economy is very poor and I'm lucky to see high 20's for the first few miles when trying to be eco, however after it warms up there is a very noticeable increase in economy and the average readout for a 5-8 mile journey can shoot into mid 30's. When reset once warm it can exceed 40mpg in normal Comfort/Sport/Sport+ driving using manual mode. On the motorway at averages around 60mph the economy is 50-55mpg. Also when driving an 18 mile route with no other traffic I can achieve 45-50mpg in eco pro (coasting a fair bit) on normal country lanes/town roads.

A truly remarkable car that makes me wonder if diesel has had its day. Sure when cold the petrol is awful, but so are diesels and they take longer to warm up. 50mpg when trying to be economical on the motorway is pretty good!

I've noticed that on a steady flat road on cruise control in a fixed gear (using the manual mode) there is no difference between live-mpg when switching between comfort/sport modes. It seems to be only the throttle sensitivity and the use of lower gears in full auto mode that worsens mpg in the sport modes. Because of this I often drive in Sport+ mode using the manual gearbox via the paddles and regularly achieve mid 30's when the temptation to overtake everything on the road doesn't overcome me :lol2:. It is possible to use lower RPM by using higher gears in manual mode Sport+ than the full auto mode will in Comfort mode. On a flat road there is no benefit to running in 5/6th gear at 30mph when 7 is quite capable. The car will even take 8th at 30mph on light throttle once it's warm! I don't recommend that though.

Just my observations, I'm probably still running it in at 3,800 miles .

For balance, when driving enthusiastically the mpg can drop into the high-teens but with natural traffic environments (traffic lights, other cars, Honda Jazz's all over the road, it soon ends up back into the mid-high 20's).

F20 120d XDrive Msport Manual - Remapped to 225BHP. 40,000 Miles

52MPG +/- 1MPG brim to brim over 6 tanks now. ~550Miles range. 70% A-Road/MWay 30% Stop/Start City. Any run over 10 miles typically gets 55-65mpg in summer unless there's terrible traffic. OBC is 1MPG optimistic which is good in my opinion.

Remap added ~2MPG i'd say, as i'm getting the same figures in cooler temperatures. Eco-pro is completely useless and just makes me frustrated due the massive amount of pedal input required for no discernible MPG difference.

Power/Size/Performance/4x4 considered, its damn good despite being slightly lower than book figures. I could probably achieve close to book however on 16" wheels...

I've only done 300 miles so far in my M140i (running in). The OBC tells me I'm getting 32mpg average, but I filled up yesterday and worked it out - I'm actually getting 27mpg. Not sure why the computer is so far out, it was quite accurate on my F30 - I'll keep an eye on it to see if it improves over time but if not I presume it will be adjustable in a hidden menu somewhere.

Do any of you work out your MPG, or just take the OBC figure?

What do people get day to day in their M140i's? I get between 20-24 in my Mk2 Focus ST.. If it's any better than this it'll make me consider one even more... -_-
My trip computer shows an avg of 28 after 1,600 miles with a complete mixture of journeys. Some have been 17 and some have been 40+.

The "live" mpg readout shows a steady 40 at 80mph in 8th on a flat, erm, private road, which I think is pretty impressive from such a big engine.

Si i guess the MPG of my F21 118i (170hp) is patetic... im making 22 MPG but i only drive in heavy traffic on highway it makes 36.4 MPG...

What do you think? :band:
I think you should get a 140i instead ;)

My F21 116i wasn't much better on fuel than my 140i so far.

Out of interest why would you use 5th gear for motorway speeds rather than 6th? Why would you want it to rev higher when 6th would alrrsdy be high enough at 1500/2000rpm?
It's because of the constant 50mph limits on M62 (around Manchester). For some bizarre reason doing 50 in 6th feels numb. 5th hits the sweet spot for decent kick when slowing down, and upping back on gas from 40 to 50 constantly during high traffic hours.

If it's a clean 70mph run, 6th it is.

Bare in mind its a 116D :D It's very particular on the power range.

Conversley, my fuel economy improves when my wife is in the driving seat but my state of mind deteriorates....

48mpg from my 116D Msport Manual. Getting about 500 miles to tank

I've had my 116D M Sport for around a month and the MPG I am achieving has by far exceeded my expectations. On my fourth tank currently and each time I have exceeded 600 miles to a tank. In fairness, the vast majority of my driving is sat on the motorway in 6th gear using Eco Pro, with the Speed Limiter set to 60. On most occasions the trip computer shows 65+ mpg and on a constant run it's way into the 70's.

Even on more spirited runs down the motorway at 80-85mph I am still achieving above 50 mpg!

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum, recently invested in a 125i.

Generally really like the car the only thing i can't get my head around is the economy. On a 90mile dual carriageway at 70mph (on cruise control in eco mode) it does around 33mpg. On A roads generally going slowly and shift with the indicated the most i've ever had is 34mpg.

Is this normal?? Its not a big issue as i don't do many miles but I cant understand how it has the same economy as my mates 10year old megane 225. Would appreciate some input from anyone who has one as i have read some people posting high 30s on long trips.
