Re: Been Run into!

Don't follow this advice. There is no reason for going through an accident management company for such a trivial matter. All it ends up doing is inflating the costs of a claim and all the costs are put back to people paying for their insurance. The car hire they offer is on a credit hire basis. If ...

Re: Been Run into!

it be a non-fault claim.. use accident exchange and dont go through your insurance. you will have to declare a non-fault to them.. but depending on ur history/age/record it doesn't make much difference to policy costs.. few quid extra and alot less hassle. Don't follow this advice. There is no reas...

Re: Shocking build quality

Not had any issues with my 240 and the quality is up there with anything else I've owned in the past, and much better than any Ford, Honda etc I've owned before.

Maybe you just got a lemon, it happens.

Re: Steep Drive, M240 ride/sill height measurement

Had my car 2 years now and it's never scraped as yet, but our E91 still scrapes all the time.

I think if I lowered it, that would be a different matter though as it's very close!

Re: New car advice

You're a braver man than me. My 11 yo son is a petrolhead but there's no way he will be going anywhere past 200bhp until he's 25, I just couldn't take the guilt if something happened to him due to too much power for a car that I had OK'd. :( These things are quick even for us older dudes with plenty...

Re: M140i uncomfortable seats

I've not had any issues with mine and have the same setup, and also have a few back issues. The lumbar is a life saver for me as our E91 doesn't have lumbar and on long journeys I get back ache in that car, but not in mine. SO much so that we never use the E91 for any long journeys now. However, the...

Re: Possibly returning M240i

I've just had my first service done after 2 years, it's done 12,400 miles now.

If you ask them not to do the zircon refresh it was £284. Even with a brake fluid change it would be less than £399 just having it done normally.

Re: Apple Carplay - BabyBMW Pricing - from ONLY £89!

This is a good price, does it activate CarPlay forever or do you have to pay BMW anything down the line?

And how does Waze now work with CP, does it come up on the BMW display? I use Waze all the time for speed camera alerts but my phone has to sit down near the ashtray area which can be a pain.

Re: Folding mirrors on lock/unlock in ice/frost?

I have this coded on mine and no issues the past 2 years, but then mine lives in the garage. :D But...if you manually fold the mirrors in using the button before getting out and locking the car they won't then unfold when you unlock the car so you could unlock the car then wait for things to get up ...

Re: Michelin PS4

This video illustrates the difference the PS4 make when wet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYIS8eI66UY Go to 5:09 onwards. Ricky is saying the power delivery and traction is much better in the 240 than the 140 he tested previously in similar conditions, but actually I think it's the PS4's making t...

Re: M135i/140i concerns

They are superb to own and drive. I have the coupe so slightly different, but in general while they can be a bit softer and slightly unsettled on bumpy roads you soon learn to get used to how they handle and you just have to trust that while sometimes a bit skittish you can rely on them to handle pr...

Re: can someone explain PCP and GFV etc to me please ....

GFV is usually pretty spot on, they have maths geniuses (genii??) that work out how much cars will be worth. My GFV is £15,500 and I imagine that is roughly what it will be worth after the 4 years are up.

Re: Michelin PS4

I currently run both MPSS on my 240 and PS4 on my E91 and can categorically state that wet weather performance is a lot better on the PS4. Granted I have different power outputs, but when driving in a similar manner the 240 will slide in the wet way more than the E91. So much so, I will be putting P...

Re: can someone explain PCP and GFV etc to me please ....

You will always be hit by depreciation when buying a new car, even with the big discounts. PCP can make it look better than it is but in reality everybody loses when buying a new car.

Mine is just two years old this month and I probably owe about £26k on it. It's still worth less than that I imagine.

Re: Setting off when car is cold

Mine sometimes does a bit of juddering when pulling out of the garage, as though it's lurching back/forward slightly and then it also does the long jerky first gear change as mentioned above.

Doesn't bother me though, got used to it now, I don't think it's an issue.
