Re: Car been thrashed during recall service

It just a matter of opinion. I wouldn't of thought your third party evidence would be of any use to the police in all honesty. First of the all the data belongs to the insurance company and not you. Secondly it is unlikely that the insurance company would hand over the data to the police without a ...

Re: Car been thrashed during recall service

The manager offered me fuel which I declined. I plan to take this much further considering I have proof the car was driven 55mph in a 30 zone! What you want firstly is a letter on official dealership paper to your insurer, confirming that the reckless driving evidenced here was carried out by one o...

Re: Think I'm unlikely

Car has been transformed runs like a dream , no smoke from the exhaust and best of all no errors at all all it seems to want to do is rev rev and rev , it now has very responsive low down throttle and then after 2000rpm is just goes nuts. Excellent, really pleased that you got a resolution for this...

Re: Shock Absorbers

Happy to help. Key tips from my experience - Strong, powerful spring compressor is vital . Ordinary threaded clamps won't compress sufficiently, and are not safe. I used and recommend a set like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/FreeTec-MacPherson-Compressor-Interchangeable-Extractor/dp/B07B24S97Z/ I ...

Re: Are these cars reliable at high mileges?

Oh dear this is getting to sound complicated! And I've now discovered there is an issue with 'swirl flaps'. I'll do some research and let you know if I find something that fits the bill. On the whole though, barring the handful of 'known issues', I'd be interested if people think a high mileage 1 s...

Re: N47 Chain Snapper?

Just purchased a 120d E87 2007 with N47 engine, read up on here about the engine although bought the car as it had only 30k miles and a bmw service each year including an oil change each time (all paperwork, mot's to prove it, he had it from new). The car did only 2,000 each year for most of its li...

Re: Twisted brake hose

Doesn't look too bad to me. Hoses often have a bit of a twist because of the factors you mentioned, unless it's visibly coiled like a pretzel I'm not sure you'll have any issues with MOT.

Re: Think I'm unlikely

Please someone tell me it will get better please It won't magically heal itself. And a poorly-maintained N47 on 93,000 miles might be a write-off at any moment if the timing chain lets go. I think you should follow Toed64's advice, keep challenging the vendor in writing about all the faults. Demand...

Re: Following on from my previous question. Can anybody advise please.

I know that bmw advises oil should last and be changed every 4000 mikes approx but not every 500 miles surely.? BMW have never recommended a 4,000 mile oil change interval for your car. Oil loss at this rate (without physical dripping) suggests a serious underlying issue in the engine's internals. ...
