Re: Pothole Damage - Need help to claim

I'm doing a claim now for damage in Feb 18 for about £800. There is a post on here about it somewhere. Be prepared for lots of to and fro with the council who will automatically sit behind their Section 58 defence. Don't be put off - the aim is to identify a failure in their process and system leavi...

Re: N55 mileage

About 57k on a 14 plate. M135 AT

Consumes about a litre of oil between services (~15k)
New steering rack at 36k / 3 yr
New gearbox at 36 / 3yr
Other than that, nothing other than tyres and wiper blades.

Probably due new brake pads soon, been showing 3200 miles for about 6 months!

Re: n55 Oil consumption

Mine was run in sympathetically and always warmed up before enthusiastic use, hasn't used a drop of oil in 62k miles. Oil changes every 10k have probably helped too. Ditto for me although I'm only changing the oil at regular services. My e46 330 drank a 1itre of oil every 600 miles so you've a way ...

Re: The end of fast cars ???

this will not happen, what do you think about the german car industry ( porsche/mercedes,bmw ) and ferrari ect.. it is the biggest money industry, and if this will happen, they can close there factory,s , no way that will happen. i also think it,s unsafe to drive Sadly there has already been discus...

Hi guys just wondering if my HK system will sound better if I use shell v power? Thanks in advance
Yes, and don't forget to check your tyre pressures. I inflate mine slightly above factory and the ICE sounds mediocre ;)

Re: mixed tyre front and rear

Yes, I did and it was so awful I complained to Goodyear tech support. The advised it was the sensitivity of the car to mismatched tyres (axle to axle). Admittedly the GY on the rear were brand new and the Michelin on the front had say 3mm but once I switched those to GY it was all fine. Now on my 2n...

Re: Your method for removing black spots on rims?

I tend to use a bit of liquid car polish. Dissolves tar spot off paintwork and alloys.

Thanks for the heads up. Disklok are normally pretty bullet proof so very surprised to hear that. Will check mine later when it stops raining!

Re: Stolen and Recovered and ‘Fixed’ - Help Please

Could be wrong but aren't M1xx's all fly by wire so there is a certain amount of isolation between road wheel vibration and the steering wheel? Sounds like they checked the suspension geometry for wheel wobble but that could be a range of things - engine mounts, gearbox mounts etc etc. Good luck tho...

Re: Is it just the grass being greener..?

I've had mainly manuals for the past 20 years so it's a no brainer for me. They get better all the time. Look at other fast car manufacturers - they're all moving to auto's of one type or another basically to remove the weak link in the equation - us! I don't mean that to be derogatory but with torq...

Re: AT8 slipping

Ok, thanks all. Pretty much what I thought then. Just hadn't noticed it the last few years, probably as I ran winter tyres those years. Currently on Goodyear Eagle Assy 3 which are going to be similarly poor in the cold to MPSS's which I started with then I got the car new. Panic over, nothing more ...

AT8 slipping

Hi all, Might just be me (or the cold and wet roads) but I thought I felt the transmission slip a couple of times recently. I did have a new box last year under warranty due to it whining. I thought the ZF units were generally bulletproof but wondered if anyone recalls hearing slip issues. Thinking ...

Re: WOW, I did not know that...

As the weather here in the UK is starting to cool down and with some snow expected, good time to remind everyone with the ZF, that if you stick it in manual and pull the right paddle (or just pull the stick back) you can do a 2nd gear start. Won’t let you go any higher than 2nd. Worth pointing out ...

Re: Scored / scratched fron disc

Hi all, I noticed earlier this week my front nearside brake disc has a groove / score mark. Not measured but maybe 1mm deep. I assume a stone has got stuck between the disc and pad. What's the best way to check its worked its was out? thanks You'd most likely hear a noise while driving, if you can'...
