Re: Nürburgring times and what Mods

8.24 but was first visit, mods and advice listed here:

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=98187&p=1266972&hi ... r#p1266972

TBH the chassis needs the work, Ive got M3 arms, diff and ARB's, Meister GT1 coilovers and serious brake pads, it would arguably break 8 with just that.

Re: Fastest E82 135 Nürburgring Nordschliefe times?

8.24 IIRC but plenty to come off of that, it was my first time there. Sub 8 should be easily achievable with good driver, good track knowledge and a few mods :)

Re: 1 new tyre? 2 new tyres? 4 new tyres?

Scottish blood in me... I would change one. Difference in circumference with what you would then have across the axle would be about 1%. Even with an LSD I would think that would be acceptable. Without an LSD, what are you worried about? Wont hurt the diff but difference in grip levels across one a...

Re: Jags.. XK8/XJS

XJS is not reliable, and can be a pig to work on too (inboard brakes anyone?), they rust like rust itself too. Lovely cars but I think you have to be committed to own one, whether you take that as "dedicated" or "certifiable" is up to you  XK8's and XKR's are much more reasonable prospects, Ive...

Re: What makes people think this is okay?

How much room was on the other aide of the yellow car?

If it was 5 feet, fair enough. If it was closer to 3, then Id have probably done the same, making sure I can get out of the car is more important than some feller in a fancy BMW Ive never met ;)

Re: E8* coding - still NCS and Virtual Computer or another option yet?

See last note, I got a 64 bit version of the software, downloaded a new driver for the DCAN cable and then did it myself :)

Re: Am I being ripped off?...(Brake pads)

The sensor wire goes far too early, potentially only halfway through the pad life and if hes going by BMW book time then it is 2 hours so its possible.

I personally have done fronts back in well under 30 minutes including getting the car up and down again and stopping for a chat with my mate

Re: 130i - inexpensive pads for road and track?

PFs are very good pads ......... but I cant see how a pad would make a pedal go long, that doesnt make any sense. Id be looking at your brake fluid cylinders, the brake caliper pistons and even the brake lines themselves, its not going to be the incompressable block of carbon thats doing it. @Rustle...

The pads are good when cold so getting to the track won't be a squeaky bum time...
Ive used a lot of very aggressive stuff and I have to be honest, Ive never had a problem with cold brakes, even racecars stop on a cold pad.

Re: Trackday pads

I fitted Ferodo DS2500 on the front recently, still have to bed them in. Nurburgring this weekend and will post observations. Good, but not up to the standard of Carbotech, Endless, Pagid RS29, Carbon Lorraine - I use CL and have actually set my brakes on fire before, still no fade. If you havent g...

Re: LSD required for donuts ?

No, is the whole point of an open diff, although donuts might not be too good for it! Wont even touch it, thats what its made for. Plate diffs actually need 1/2 hour of donuts and FO8's to "run them in", that can be a comedy experience I tell you  Also, lighting up the rears and turning the ca...

Interesting comments made, appears that more power is way down the list. Strange that significant number of youtubers seem to have more power at the top of their list or very close to it. I will probably take more notice of the opinions from Babybmw forum members as Youtubers appear to have a diffe...

Re: Top 3 upgrades

TBH if a garage cant fit some dampers and a diff they probably shouldnt be calling themselves a garage, its not rocket science, there appears to be a group by on the quaife going on atm too :)
