Re: E82 "Engine fault, reduced power" - 135i

Everything has problems. Nothing is better than everything. So what exactly is quite unreliable about N55s then? I started looking for a 135i about 6 years ago and Ive been on this forum and others since, Ive never seen anyone talk about a spun bearing, I dont remember one exploding either. At the ...

Re: E82 "Engine fault, reduced power" - 135i

one member of belarussian bmwclub owning e82 n55 dct already did n55 rebuild 3 times If youre rebuilding the same engine 3 times the problem is almost certainly not the engine  I dont know why things should be different in Lithuania but the N55 is considered a pretty strong engine here, defini...

Re: Weird Oil temp problem

I’m not sure if that’s any help but it seems to me it uses the condition sensor to “guess” how hot it is using the dielectric properties of the oil Yeah, further investigation on my part has found that too, its not actually measuring the temperature at all. Cosmic. Local BMW dealer reckon theres an...

Re: Weird Oil temp problem

Update O Clock: so I had a brainwave yesterday, why not just unplug the oil temp sensor by the gearbox - if its not plugged in it cant overread, right? Car started up, no CEL or codes so happy days. Drove car to work this morning and within 5 minutes the oil temp gauge is rising, after 15 minutes it...

Re: Handbrake light and car on ramp (both red)

Thanks all. So is it possible that it isn't the brake pads then? He still hasn't taken it to mechanic. We both use the same one he is a very genuine guy..i hope lol TBH you can do a visual check on brake pads yourself, just have a look at the calipers and see how much friction surface is left on th...

Re: Bmw 135i Coupe / Convertible Prices Soaring

Ive long said manual N54's (N55s to a lesser extent as there were more) will go up in value - there arent many good looking RWD, turbo 4 seaters about and there were only 700 odd UK cars to begin with, the 1M prices dont do any harm either. That said I used to be the chairman of the 200SX OC, none o...

Re: Oil temp gauge range

Sounds like a plan. I think the 125i should have a heat exchanger already, so I’m quite surprised you’ve seen temps that high. Maybe the 150c limit is only for the US 28i models that have no oil cooling at all? I’m interested now, will see what I can find! My 135i kills the power when it thinks its...

Re: New member, 1 series coupe buying advice, 125i or 135i

Dunno, S54 is a pretty awesome engine and N/A is ALWAYS better than FI, youre probably right that a 130i with some mods might get close though. E92 was a bit big and heavy for me but is incredible on track.
IF youre paying £15k at least you know youre not going to lose anything on them I guess

Re: New member, 1 series coupe buying advice, 125i or 135i

I think Nyxeris has hit the nail on the head. I don't think N55 and N54 with turbos are a 'classic' BMW experience. If you want an old school turbo feel with manual gearbox and HPAS then they deliver but power delivery is very different to a traditional NA straight 6 BMW engine. For classic BMW exp...

Re: New member, 1 series coupe buying advice, 125i or 135i

What I’m wondering is this, is the 135i worth getting over the 125i. Are the horror stories about failed HPFPs, turbos and injectors as bad as they seem? Would a high mileage N55 135i be one to avoid? And my general E82 questions are what’s the deal with rust on these? I know the E39 was awful for ...

Re: Handbrake light and car on ramp (both red)

Yeah, car decides when it needs new brake pads using rather useless pad sensors, the ramp symbol is it deciding it needs a service. Most decent garages can turn them off using an OBD reader, the brakes dont need replacing unless they are worn, the service is probably worth getting done though, check...

Re: Abs brake pads

Better pads and fluid will always perform better, look at Carbotech, CL, Endless, Performance Friction for best performance, I had RS29 on a roadcar and didnt find them at all intrusive but they were great on track. Ive got 6 pot 135i Performance calipers on mine with CL pads and if you want much mo...

For future reference you can run power to the numberplate lights, sometimes enough to unlock car if the battery is totally dead :)

Looks like they are adding the 1M throttle mapping as a tick box or a slider option in the near future for MHD. You may as well hold tight doc’! SpoolStreet Source :spotman: :spotman: :spotman: Got added yesterday, I reflashed this morning and its definitely better - much more accurate in the first...

Re: What Dealers are asking for a nice 135i coupe

60 plate LMB, 49k miles, DCT, performance exhaust, xenons, pro nav, cruise etc. We do under 2k miles in it per year but whilst prices aren’t going down it seems silly to sell! Check how many other 60 plate DCTs there are, I wouldnt sell it if I were you ;) Mine is fairly heavily modded and Ive just...
