Love how the Michelin man indicates where the wear markers are! Pretty cool.
I found he has a short, but entertaining, life! :drive:

Re: Steering knock DIY fix?

Thank for the dimensions - made a tool yesterday and slightly tweaked my rack. Only difference to my tool is I made it from steel and welded a nut mid-span, so that I could get a spanner on for more controlled leverage. Will check it again tonight with the car raised, to ensure there's no additional...

Re: Any one had any experiance with EBC bluestuff

If they're anything like the other compounds they're quite possibly bettered by pretty much any other brake pad on the market.

Re: 18" BBS CH wheels over 370mm brakes

Cheers for the info. From the photos above, I'm trying to determine if there's any poke on the rears with 9" et50 - something I wish to avoid.

Seems I need to get a wheel inner profile from BBS to check the clearance on the 370 mm calipers.

18" BBS CH wheels over 370mm brakes

Wondering if anyone has 18" BBS CH wheels fitted over the lager 370mm BMW calipers and disc setup. I'm contemplating getting another set of wheels as the BMW wheels are painted so terribly, but I'm aware how tight the OEM wheels are to the calipers. Also, whilst composing a post, what is the general...

Re: Quaife diff + GY Assy3 tyres = very reactive TC light?

On a previous car I owned, I experienced the ESP kicking in driving moderately around corners after renewing just two tyres. On that occasion I went from GY Asym to Asym2 and the difference in the tyres caused spurious ESP activation. As soon as I swapped the remaining two tyres for Asym2 the proble...

Re: Brake splash plate removal

Can't recall relative location of the parts as I've not had the front of my car apart for a while, but often the shield also serves to protect the balljoints from radiant heat.

Re: M4 pads on track

Looked at the pads today, didn't remove them just looked at them in situ, the M4 pads have crumbled on the edges. I am fairly new to tracking a car, but have never seen that before. The backs (standard pads) have a nice clean edge. Is this a symptom of overheating? Have I got a bad set of pads? Is ...

Re: M4 pads on track

I've found the M4 pads require less pressure for a given rate of deceleration. If what I'm feeling is correct, then it suggests that running the M4 pads at the front and stock at the rear, would push the balance forwards. Maybe you weren't getting all the available braking from the rears, due to the...

Re: Brake Discs - Dimpled and Slotted

@alackofspeed ~ Have you ran the M3 or M4 pads before then? Is there a noticeable improvement over the stock M135i pads? Yes for road use a noticeable improvement. They feel to be less compressible so give a firmer pedal, whilst also being more progressive, with more bite and a higher coefficient o...

Re: Brake Discs - Dimpled and Slotted

So where is best to buy the DS2500 pads from? I wouldn't waste your money on them - they're not a good pad on either road or track. For track, fit proper track pads. For road fit proper road pads. BMW M3/M4 pads are a good option for road use - they give better pedal feel and linearity than the sto...

Re: Brake Discs - Dimpled and Slotted

as for the dimpled and grooved discs - some people may prefer the looks, but that comes at financial cost and noise cost. I'm running ATE 2-piece 370mm plain discs on my car having fried a set of MPerformance 370mm discs. Glad to be shot of the grooved and dimpled discs as the noise was really annoy...
