Re: Bought an M135i. Turbo replaced after 45k miles.

Maybe the owner managed to persuade the dealership to replace the turbo due to wastegate rattle?

Remote key failure

This evening I unlocked then locked my car as usual using the remote. I went back to the car about five minutes later and the car was unresponsive to the remote. I can get the car to start after a placing the key against the column and pressing the start button a few times, however, the remote remai...

Re: Ohlins R&T vs Bilstein PSS10'S

You can't preload Rear springs on these kits. That's my understanding too. You'd stroke-out the rear damper trying to use it as some kind of a spring compressor, resulting in zero rebound. Exactly - ride height at the rear is all down to spring length, spring rate and perch position. Anyhow, for wh...

Re: Ohlins R&T vs Bilstein PSS10'S

On the rear, unless you top out the damper, the spring length, spring rate and perch position dictate the ride height. On the front, you can add preload and remove sag from the damper, but compensate with the damper lower threaded collar.

That’s not how it works on the back, which is what I understood was being discussed.

Re: Ohlins R&T vs Bilstein PSS10'S

Shortening the length of the damper (using it like a strap) seems like a really harsh/unsympathetic way to use them. Must give an odd ride if the damper is short enough to compress the spring when the car's wheels are on the ground, and therefore lift the wheel off the ground during tiny undulation...

Re: Ohlins R&T vs Bilstein PSS10'S

I ran the Ohlins kit with 450lb rears and 275lb fronts. Natural frequency circa 2Hz.

Re: Ohlins R&T vs Bilstein PSS10'S

The Ohlins springs have a number on them, which can be translated on their site to obtain the spring rate and length. I believe they also provide details of maximum compression before coil binding. From what I recall of the rear dampers on the Ohlins kit I sold to OK51MON the damper top cap is there...

Love how the Michelin man indicates where the wear markers are! Pretty cool.
I found he has a short, but entertaining, life! :drive:

Re: Steering knock DIY fix?

Thank for the dimensions - made a tool yesterday and slightly tweaked my rack. Only difference to my tool is I made it from steel and welded a nut mid-span, so that I could get a spanner on for more controlled leverage. Will check it again tonight with the car raised, to ensure there's no additional...

If they're anything like the other compounds they're quite possibly bettered by pretty much any other brake pad on the market.

Re: 18" BBS CH wheels over 370mm brakes

Cheers for the info. From the photos above, I'm trying to determine if there's any poke on the rears with 9" et50 - something I wish to avoid.

Seems I need to get a wheel inner profile from BBS to check the clearance on the 370 mm calipers.

18" BBS CH wheels over 370mm brakes

Wondering if anyone has 18" BBS CH wheels fitted over the lager 370mm BMW calipers and disc setup. I'm contemplating getting another set of wheels as the BMW wheels are painted so terribly, but I'm aware how tight the OEM wheels are to the calipers. Also, whilst composing a post, what is the general...
