Re: What colour is this ?

It is definitely not Sedona red, I don't think it's Vermillion either as like you say its a dark metallic red.

I've not seen a 135i in that red before, not sure what the name is either I'm afraid.

Re: Bought an MX5

Congratulations. I used to have an Mk2.5 MX5 1.8 and loved it! The sills are only one area you need to look for rust, the front chassis legs are the real danger area. Just in front of the suspension mounts and essentially your crush zone will rust like crazy on the NBs! I was shocked when I discover...

Re: Lost locking wheel nut

I'm impressed that BMW stock them. When I lost the locking wheel nut on my MX5 Mazda said they didn't stock them as there were up to 40 different keys and they wanted £100 to remove the existing locking wheel nuts. I ended up getting them off by hammering on a slightly smaller socket, took about 10 ...

Re: Walnut blasting Norfolk.

Yeah I had thought about that but it's not thorough and with the build up that is in there. It's needs a thorough clean, kinda wish I'd of taken a picture now. My build up was pretty bad but again it was just oil based not exhaust based. I put a post on a couple of months ago with the best pictures...

Re: Walnut blasting Norfolk.

I did mine manually using some CRC Inlet Valve cleaner and some spiral wound nylon brushes. It didn't leave the valves shiny like walnut blasting does but cleaned away the build up, there will be no noticeable engine performance difference walnut blasting over cleaning with solvents as long as it's ...

Have you had any form of apology from the dealership so far?

Thanks for a great day everyone and thanks for organising it Bish. It was nice to meet you all and sit at the back of the convoy with my windows open!

Looking at all the pics has made my morning work coffee much more pleasant.

Looking forward to the next one.

Re: I cleaned the intake valves on my N54

MegaMinion - did your turn engine over to get the valves closed before cleaning? If yes, did you use starter or turn by hand/breaker bar. Good results  I did indeed turn it over. I turned it by hand with a breaker bar, you have to take the fan out first which is a bit fiddly as you have to ...

Re: I cleaned the intake valves on my N54

Good work that man, definitely improved mine (and probably time to do it again) :( Blank off you EGR valve, or get it mapped out. Mapping will need to be done if you blanked it anyway. A company in Leicester quoted me £75 to software delete my EGR valve, on my '06. I don't think the N54 engine has ...

Re: I cleaned the intake valves on my N54

MM, Might be worth fitting an oil catch can to prevent them gunking up again? That's my plan. I have a generic Mishimoto no baffled catch can that I was going to use but can't find a suitable spot for it, I also think the vapour would go straight through it. I'm now trying to decide whether one of ...

I cleaned the intake valves on my N54

I spent Saturday cleaning the intake valves on my N54 and man they were grim. My 135i has done 68,000 miles and I get the feeling the valves probably hadn't been done before. I've put some before and after shots before, it's difficult to see how bad they are as it's mostly black on black. But you ca...

Re: Ashtray removal

Yea he just pulled out the ash tray and 12v socket and installed the storage tray and then the charger. I think he had to extend the wires for the charger to make things fit, but otherwise it was swapping parts for parts.

The charger works fine. I don't know what charger he went with though
