Re: ABS LIGHTS ON

No. If a sensor doesn't give a signal the car simply assumes the wheel isn't turning, or it's turning erratically. It can't throw error codes and log fault codes every time you drive on ice/mud/whatever. If it is the shafts, you can get inexpensive pattern replacements if your mechanic doesn't want...

Re: ABS LIGHTS ON

I'd heard the rings could become an issue. Would they not log a fault code? I'm not up for changing them myself. My mechanic said you usually have to change the complete drive shaft as that's usually corroded as well?? If there's anyone local to Lancaster that can do the rings without having to repl...

ABS LIGHTS ON

My ABS lights are intermittently coming on. They were on all weekend, but when I got it checked by a mechanic today, the lights had gone off, with absolutely no fault codes stored. I did have an ABS sensor changed in August. The light has come on probably 4 times in between then and now.
Any ideas?

Re: 320d to 118d

Hi. I would drive them both to make your own opinion, a 118d may do the job for what you need. I personally went for a 120d just for the extra power and torque. Winter (cold day's) economy at 47-50mpg and maybe a little higher on the longer commutes. The summer economy is 50-55mpg again on the comm...

320d to 118d

I'm seriously considering upgrading my motor, from 06 320d Msport, to a 65 118d Msport. Looks like they'll be similar power on paper? Or should I be hunting out a 120d? I'm also wanting more economy, what sort of figures are being gained in the real world? My commute is mainly motorway. Is there any...

Re: 2015 116d

Turbo, injectors, gearbox, prop shaft, differential, brakes. About £5k if you buy the bits separately. If you go for a remap; a) make sure you dont swallow any bullsh!t claims - there are a lot of rogues out there. Do your research on whats realistic. b) dont forget to notify your insurance company...

2015 116d

So I understand that the 116d is same 2.0l engine as 120d. There's at least £1500 plus price difference to buy standard 120d.
Can the 116d be mapped up to the same sort of power as 120d, not having to change any other hardware?

Or map a 120d up to 230-240hp?? Lots of options.
Are the engines easily good for it? With the increase in bhp, are you loosing mpg? Some maps I've seen you can gain on both?!

Save your pennies, get a well specc'd 118 and then get it mapped to the same power as a 120 would be my advice :)
Is it same engine and turbo, just a different map?

Re: 118 or 120

You will notice the difference between the 118d and 120d. I went from a 320d E90 to a 118d E87 then a 120d F20 xDrive and the difference was night and day. I actually found my fuel economy worse on the 118d because I found I was pushing it more than I would do with the 120d. I have a 320d E90 now, ...

Re: 118 or 120

Thanks for the input. I think I'm definitely going to be looking out for a 120!

118 or 120

I currently drive a 320d 2006 MSport. It's been a trouble free 2 years motoring, but I'm looking of buying a newer BMW in the next few months. I've been looking at the 1 series. 118, or 120. Being the older model, I'm pretty sure mine has 163bhp. If I'm correct in thinking, the 118 has 150bhp, and 1...

Re: Chipping & Remapping your BMW

P-Torque in Wolverhampton? I've just found another thread regarding P-Torque. Wolverhampton is about 2 hours south so just about within range! What's the best way to try and set up a group discount?? Contact them. They're usually game if you can drum up 4 - 5 bookings. :) I've just pm'd them :spotm...
